Today we had the opportunity to visit the impressive Hynds Pokeno manufacturing plant, one of the most advanced concrete manufacturing facilities in the Southern Hemisphere.
Hynds has a proud history that began in 1973, when John and Leonie Hynds started their first concrete manufacturing business from their backyard in Manurewa. Through decades of hard work, innovation, and a strong focus on customer service, the company has grown into New Zealand’s largest manufacturing infrastructure provider, employing over 800 people across New Zealand and Australia.
The Pokeno plant represents the future of concrete manufacturing. Built with world-class technology and designed for efficiency, safety, and sustainability, the facility produces high-quality concrete solutions while leading the way in waste reduction and recycling.
Standing next to the last riser from the original East Tamaki site, spun by John Hynds himself in February 2022, was a powerful reminder of how far the company has come, from a backyard operation to a world-class manufacturing network.
An inspiring visit that shows what vision, innovation, and dedication can achieve.
