Ending hunger, ensuring and improving is one of the global development priorities. Yesterday we presented the results of our final of an EU-funded project on Food Security and Nutrition in to some 50 stakeholders. The project was aimed at improving the nutrition of young children, adolescent girls and pregnant and lactating women from poor communities.

As part of a project to support Montenegro in managing EU assistance and ensuring good financial monitoring and control systems, representatives of the Ministry of Finance of Montenegro visited counterparts in Slovakia and the Czech Republic to learn from their experience of managing European Structural and Investment Funds.

ICE has significant experience in managing large programmes related to the EU’s Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) in the Western Balkans, with particular expertise in capacity building for governments and institutions.

What does social cohesion mean to you?

As part of an EU project on the electoral process and promotion of democratic culture in Burundi, we took part in an event in Bujumbura focused on the importance of cooperation (Journée de la coopération Burundi-Union Européenne), organised by the EU and its Member States.

Visitors were invited to depict their interpretation of social cohesion in collaborative paintings – with some nice results!

As part of an EU-funded technical assistance project to strengthen Turkey’s transport operating structure, we organised a ceremony near Edirne to mark the rail welding of part of the Halkalı-Kapıkule Railway. The new railway line will provide a clean and safe high-speed connection from Istanbul to the Turkish-Bulgarian border, helping businesses and travellers.

Ms Henrike Trautmann, Acting Director of the Southern Neighborhood Directorate at DG NEAR, attended the ceremony with the Turkish Minister of Transportation, Mr. Adil Karaismailoglu.

At ICE, we do a lot of , which is an essential part of work, to make sure mistakes aren’t repeated and good practices are used in future projects. We’ve just finished an ex-post evaluation for an EU-funded programme on socio-economic development and civil society support in Egypt and are presenting the results to 50 participants at a meeting today.
