How much time do your warehouse operators spend walking instead of picking?

During a recent assessment at a wholesale distribution center, we noticed that pickers were repeatedly crossing activity areas because tasks were released in sequence number order rather than in travel order. This resulted in a lot of unnecessary movement throughout the warehouse.

The interesting part? The issue wasn't staffing, equipment, or warehouse space. It was the way picking tasks were sequenced.

By optimizing task grouping and ex*****on in SAP EWM, warehouses can significantly reduce travel distances. In high-volume environments, even a 10% reduction in travel time can translate into hundreds of productive hours recovered each year.
