How Can Europe Detect and Respond to Emerging Diseases Faster?
Meet MOOD!
We’re excited to share that MOOD, the epi-platform we helped develop with our partners, is now featured in the CORDIS Results (https://zurl.co/MymGn) in Brief and the EU Results Pack on AI in Life Sciences (https://zurl.co/bYOy0) .
MOOD (Monitoring Outbreak Events for Disease surveillance) is a powerful, open-access platform supporting one-health stakeholders in:
• Detecting emerging infectious diseases (human & animal),
• Tracking antimicrobial resistance (AMR) trends,
• Visualizing risks through predictive modeling and AI-driven maps.
By integrating event-based data (e.g., PADI-web), environmental and climate datasets, and advanced machine learning, MOOD enables faster, science-based public health decisions.
AVIA-GIS’s role: We developed the platform framework that is now hosting a unique set of co-variate data, risk model outputs and epidemiological tools provided by the MOOD partners, ensuring it meets real-world needs and we are the proud co-founder of the MOOD Non-Profit Association which will keep the platform alive.
Examples of proven impact in action:
• Tick-borne encephalitis: Predictive annual models using wildlife & land-use data,
• Avian influenza: Comparing transmission risk through wild and domestic birds,
• West Nile fever: Combining indicator-based and event-based surveillance data for modeling WNV risk,
• AMR hotspots: Identifying resistance trends in livestock.

A big thanks to our incredible partners and we look forward to advancing this work through the MOOD Association with them.
