ECO Wind Projection

ECO Wind Projection Safety for birds & technology is our intelligent future. They are mostly concentrated within developed countries with high energetic demands.

To unite our knowledge and experience in the fields of conservation biology and GIS data analysis and available technical means in order to provide an assessment of a project’s potential and current impact on sensitive birds to wind turbines. TO PROTECT BIRDS THROUGH RESULT-DRIVEN EXPERTISE FOR A SAFE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY WIND POWER INDUSTRY
There are around 280 000 wind turbines worldwide

. Wind turbine generators (WTGs) are often constructed at locations with constant wind currents, which are also used by migratory birds. This interaction between technology and wildlife has a direct impact on the life-cycle of birds, since biannual migrations are constrained by seasonality. By synchronizing our actions with a deep understanding about the morphology, ontogeny and behaviour about each high-risk bird species, we can restore a harmonious state of balance between green energy and nature. We propose a combination of all available information about sensitive bird species, a deep knowledge and understanding of bird ecology with the high tech innovations in communication and satellite tracking.

More data about adaptive abilities of soaring birds in respect to operational wind turbines are collected by GPS/GSM tracking technology in SPA Kaliakra. Our data indicate fast adaptation of breeding in area with wind turbines common buzzards (Buteo buteo). All the collected results of our long term monitoring of birds will be presented at forthcoming 6th Conference on Wind energy and Wildlife impacts!

Bulgaria is on the top of the most studied territories in respect to wind farm impact on birds. In the same time Bulgaria has smallest installed capacity of wind power in Europe. These two fundamental facts are clear argument for a bright future of wind power developments in Bulgaria.
According to the biggest database of knowledge in the field of wind power impacts on birds (Knowledge Base | Tethys (pnnl.gov) there are twice more studies on wind power impact on birds in Bulgaria compared to the rest of the countries in Europe. Transition of the energy system of the country in next 10 years provides a lot of new opportunities for wind power industry in our country.
The accumulated by our company knowledge and developed solutions in the evaluation, management and mitigation of the risk for birds in wind farm areas are ready for application in the practice. Bulgaria is ready to meet its wind power future.

Wind direction controls autumn migration of White Stork (Ciconia ciconia): a case study of soaring bird migration at Via Pontica

Knowledge of spatial distribution of birds is a source for replying many fundamental questions of the evolutionary ecology and ornithology as well as for practical solutions. In particular, the distribution of migrants through a certain territory along the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, known as Via Pontica, is of primary interest for the development of wind power industry in the region.

Here in Bulgaria we have accumulated over 10 years experience in the monitoring of efects coused by operational wind turbines on Birds. The results for the moment are optimistic. With correct and efficient mitigation the efect can be reduced to acceptable level in one of the most important for wind energy production areas of the country - Kaliakra.

We have investigated wintering ecology of endangered red breasted geese wintering in an area with operational wind turbines. Coexistance of wintering geese and wind turbines seems posible in harmony under conditions of NE Bulgaria where an integrated system for protection of birdfs is applied by operators of wind farms in the region. We use qunatitative methods to access bird migration in all sites where wind farms will be installed. Important step for the objective evaluation is expertise and all available data. Now we have more technical posibilities to use moder technologies in our preconstruction monitoring. For more information how we use the data wisit our web site:
