🌍 A Historic Milestone at the IAF-ILAC Joint General Assembly in Berlin! 🌍

We are excited to share the culmination of a successful 10 days working conference at the IAF-ILAC Joint General Assembly, marking the final event of this pivotal meeting series held in Berlin. The discussions were fruitful, the collaborations inspiring, and the outcomes, transformational.

💡 Key Highlights:
• Strategic Transition: We’ve discussed and finalized the strategic transition plan to streamline our global accreditation processes.
• Mutual Recognition Expansion: The assembly emphasized the significance of Multi-Lateral Agreements (MLAs) and Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs) to ensure globally recognized accreditation schemes, facilitating seamless international trade.
• Digitalization & Innovation: AI and cybersecurity are set to become integral to the future of accreditation, enhancing efficiency and trust in the certification process.
• Sustainability: A major focus was placed on integrating sustainability standards into the global accreditation system.

🎉 The Birth of GLOBAC 🎉
In a landmark decision, the Joint General Assembly officially announced the formation of the Global Accreditation Cooperation (GLOBAC)—a new organization that will lead global accreditation efforts, building on the strong foundation set by IAF and ILAC.

What makes this even more symbolic is that it happened in Berlin, near Checkpoint Charlie, a historic site of division and unification. As the Berlin Wall once fell, symbolizing the end of separation and the start of unity, so too does GLOBAC mark a new era of global cooperation—unifying accreditation under a single organization, fostering trust in conformity assessments worldwide.

We are grateful for the participation and leadership of accreditation bodies, CAB associations, scheme owners, stakeholders, from across the globe, especially the tireless efforts of the IAF and ILAC committees, ensuring the continuous improvement and global recognition of accredited certifications.

Here’s to the future of global accreditation and the start of something extraordinary! 🌐

Today the ILAC and IAF Chairs and Vice-Chairs officially started the registration process of the Global Accreditation Cooperation (GLOBAC) in New Zealand, with IAF and ILAC members in attondance. This step comes after ILAC and IAF members approved the GLOBAC Constitution and General Rules through a positive vote.
