On 21 May, we marked Vyshyvanka Day in our Lviv office with a special lecture about traditional Ukrainian clothing and its cultural meaning. 🇺🇦

Ethnologist and collector of traditional Ukrainian attire, Khrystyna Fedetchko, took us through the history of antique embroidered shirts, regional traditions and the stories hidden in their patterns and craftsmanship.

One of the most memorable parts of the event was the opportunity to see several authentic vyshyvankas from her personal collection up close and experience history in a very tangible way.

Did you know the Cyrillic alphabet (used today by around 250 million people across Eurasia) was developed in the First Bulgarian Empire? 🇧🇬

Ahead of 24 May, our Sofia team celebrated the Day of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and of Slavic Literature with books, homemade bakes and a good cause close to our hearts.

For the second year in a row, we organised a Books & bakes charity bazaar as part of Заедно в час / Teach for Bulgaria's “May in Support of Bulgarian Education” campaign. Colleagues brought favourite titles, prepared delicious treats and came together to support the next generation of teachers in Bulgaria. 💜

Together, we raised and donated EUR 490 towards the “New Path in Teaching” programme, which supports young teachers during their first years in the classroom.

Can modern Java handle today's AI workloads? 🤖

As Java marks its 31st anniversary, we’re celebrating with a new post by our colleague Ivan Mihov, Senior Java Engineer in the News UK Tech team at Pwrteams Bulgaria.

Are a few hours of teamwork enough to transform a neglected urban spot? 🌍

Our Sofia team recently set out to answer that and the results were truly inspiring. Together with the Българско дружество за защита на птиците BirdLife Bulgaria colleagues (and their fantastic young helpers) came together to restore a riverside area near Топлоцентрала in one of the city’s parks.

We started the day with a short talk from an ornithologist, who shared why urban green spaces are so important for birds and the role they play in keeping city ecosystems healthy. 🐦

Then it was time to roll up our sleeves. We collected litter, cleared away old branches and removed fallen logs. And by the end of the day, the difference was visible: a cleaner, more welcoming space for both people and wildlife. 🌿

3 May is an important day in Poland. 🇵🇱

With many of our colleagues based there, it’s also a day that matters to us.

Back in 1791, a new constitution was adopted in Warsaw, introducing reforms to strengthen the country at a time of serious external pressure.

It didn’t last long, but it came to stand for something bigger - independence, resilience & the determination to shape your own future.

These are values that still resonate with many of the people we work with in Poland today.

One of our favourite annual traditions came around again - Runmageddon Kraków!

For the uninitiated: it's one of Poland's most demanding obstacle races - up to 12 km of mud pits, walls, barbed wire crawls, water crossings... and a few things that look impossible until they're not. 💪

A group of our Kraków colleagues tackled it earlier this month, and as always, it didn't disappoint.
They left muddy and tired, but already talking about next year... so it was definitely a good one.
