From Learning to Practice 🎓🤝

The final day of the International Summer School is dedicated to reflection, collaboration, and the transition from learning to practical implementation, marking the completion of an intensive week of academic, experiential, and intercultural activities.

🔹 🧠💬 Morning Workshop
The morning workshop, moderated by Prof. Anastasia Vlachou (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), focuses on how the knowledge, tools, and approaches developed during the Summer School can be applied in participants’ own educational and professional contexts. Working in groups, participants reflect on the learning outcomes of the programme and develop action plans for promoting inclusive education, inclusive technology, and innovative teaching practices in their institutions and countries.

🔹 📊🌍 Final Session
During the final session, participants present the results of their group work, share their reflections, and discuss ways to maintain collaboration and continue the exchange of experience beyond the Summer School. The discussion emphasizes the importance of sustainability, international cooperation, and ongoing professional development in advancing inclusive education.

🔹 🎓✨ Closing Ceremony
The programme concludes with the closing ceremony and the awarding of attendance certificates, followed by a farewell lunch which provides the opportunity for final networking and exchange of contacts, reinforcing the professional and personal connections built throughout the week.

Universal Design for Learning and Inclusive Technology 💻♿

Day 4 of the International Summer School focused on the role of technology and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in creating accessible, flexible, and inclusive educational environments that support the participation of all learners.

🔹 💻🎓 Morning Session
The morning session, delivered by Prof. Charalambos Karagiannidis (University of Thessaly), explores the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in inclusive education, presenting practical examples of digital tools, assistive technologies, and adaptive learning platforms that can help remove barriers and enhance engagement for students with diverse needs.

🔹 📚🧩 Workshop: Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
This is followed by a workshop led by Prof. Anastasia Vlachou (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) and Assist. Prof. Lia Tsermidou (University of Thessaly) on Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Participants examine how inclusive teaching can be planned proactively through flexible instructional design, multiple means of engagement, representation, and expression, ensuring that learning opportunities are accessible to all from the outset.

🔹 🏛️🎨 Visit to the Archaeological Site and Museum of Ancient Olympia
In the afternoon, participants visit the Archaeological Site and Museum of Ancient Olympia, combining cultural immersion with experiential activities. Through guided reflection and collaborative art-based exercises, the visit connects the Olympic values of participation, respect, and equality with the principles of inclusive education.

The day concludes with a traditional Greek dance performance at the International Olympic Academy, offering a shared cultural experience that strengthens interaction, cooperation, and the sense of community among participants. The morning session, led by Prof. Anastasia Vlachou (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), explores differentiated pedagogy as a framework for addressing learner diversity through flexible curricula, adaptive teaching strategies, and inclusive classroom design. The day opens with a keynote lecture by Associate Professor Christophoros Mamas (University of California, San Diego), who presents the theoretical framework of relational inclusivity and explains how social connections among students, teachers, and institutions influence participation, belonging, and equity in education. The Summer School officially begins with welcome speeches from the Municipality of Ancient Olympia and the Scientific Committee, followed by the introduction of participants, instructors, and mentors, setting the tone for a collaborative and international learning experience.

🔹 📖 Session: Inclusive Education in Principle and Action
Prof. Anastasia Vlachou (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) introduces the fundamental principles of inclusive education, focusing on equity, diversity, and human-rights-based approaches. Participants explore practical strategies for creating learning environments where all students can participate and succeed.

🔹 🤖💻 Keynote: Technology, AI and Independent Living
Kamil Goungor (European Network on Independent Living) presents the role of digital and technologies in inclusive education and independent living, while addressing challenges such as digital exclusion, ethics and accessibility.
