At Skill Up, one of our key objectives is to enhance the development and assessment of transversal skills in the labor market. Our partners play a crucial role in creating and implementing effective strategies to achieve this goal. Let's dive deeper into the activities carried out by each partner!

DTSA, as the activity leader, has been instrumental in structuring and developing the transversal skills toolkit. Working closely with FRM-it support, they have created an index for the toolkit, ensuring comprehensive coverage of relevant topics. In addition, DTSA has prepared the first module, complete with informative handouts, exercises, and workshop materials.

Workshop 1 in Varna, Bulgaria
To facilitate practical learning, we recently conducted a workshop in Varna, Bulgaria. Led by our coordinator, we delivered a short lesson on transversal skills to a group of nine educators from partner organizations. Together, they collaborated to develop assessment tools, role plays, exercises, and other materials for a short course on transversal skills. This hands-on approach allowed educators to actively contribute and customize the learning experience.

Testing with Adult Learners

📢 Skill Up Project: Romanian Focus Group Live Meeting 🇷🇴

How to Motivate Adults to Learn? Let's dive into the details of our engaging discussion. 🗣️💡

During our session, we explored various aspects, and among the existing motivators, we discovered that trust within the organizational collective, financial incentives, and status play a significant role. However, personal satisfaction emerged as a strong driver, fueling the core motivation of employees. Overcoming the fear of change and failure proved to be a challenge deeply ingrained in individuals' mentality.

For adult learners, it is crucial that they feel validated and a sense of belonging, leading to training courses that foster their growth and improvement. We identified several instruments that trigger actions and contribute to employees' growth. Mentoring, provided by senior colleagues with expertise and experience, enhances decision-making skills. Peer learning, facilitated by colleagues in similar positions, allows for the sharing of valuable insights.

The arguments to motivate employees to pursue professional development include financial incentives, opportunities for career advancement, increased efficiency leading to personal time gained, and valuable new experiences at all levels.

Now, let's explore how we can achieve these goals. Our discussion highlighted three main interventions in skill development: training, team building, and self-actualization. As educators, we emphasized the importance of motivating employers to invest in their employees' development by implementing a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) system. This system marks business progress and enables easy monitoring of individual and departmental performance as well as HR and financial situations.

Although tailored training courses were implemented, we acknowledged two areas that need improvement: (1) authentic feedback and (2) professional roadmaps with mentor involvement.

To create impactful training courses for employees, it is vital to:

✅ Create a modular space that can be easily adapted to individual needs

We recently held two focus groups in BG, one live and one online, discussing a topic of utmost importance: How to motivate adults to learn. 📚💡

Let's dive into the detailed overview of the discussion and the valuable insights gained from our participants. 🌟

During the discussion, the focus group highlighted several key aspects based on their management and entrepreneurial skills. Overall, it was concluded that adults can be motivated to learn through the following strategies:

1️⃣ Concrete Career Growth Plans: Setting clear and achievable plans for career advancement based on qualifications and results.

2️⃣ Professional Development: Encouraging ongoing professional development through training, workshops, and skill-building programs.

3️⃣ Certifications: Recognizing and rewarding employees who obtain relevant certifications to enhance their expertise.

4️⃣ Additional Tangible and Intangible Bonuses: Offering bonuses and additional benefits as incentives for learning, such as performance-based rewards or tangible rewards like gift cards.
