We had the opportunity to host an exploratory visit by German Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (Der Mittelstand BVMW) to Brunei Darussalam from 12–15 August 2026.

The visit brought together German SMEs and Brunei stakeholders to explore opportunities for stronger trade and investment linkages, particularly across health technology, renewable energy, sustainable industrial development and advanced technologies.

BEDB also hosted a briefing and networking session connecting the German delegation with local businesses, providing a platform to explore potential partnerships and commercial opportunities.

As part of the programme, the delegation visited Brunei Innovation Lab (BIL), CAE Multipurpose Training Centre and Brunei Fertilizer Industries (BFI). The visit provided insights into Brunei’s industrial, innovation and business ecosystem. We had the opportunity to exhibit BEDB’s role in facilitating investments that support the growth of Brunei Darussalam’s maritime economy at Brunei Darussalam Maritime Week (BDMW) 2026 held from 6–9 August at Dermaga Diraja Brunei.

At the exhibition, BEDB is highlighting Brunei Darussalam’s position as a regional maritime hub and promoting investment opportunities. The showcase also highlights the country’s strategic location, secure operating environment, and growing maritime ecosystem, as a trusted base for maritime businesses seeking opportunities in the region.

BDMW 2026, organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam (MPABD) MPABD under the theme “Powering Maritime Excellence: Safe Seas, Thriving Economy, Future-Ready People,” brings together government leaders, industry players, academia and international organisations to discuss the future of the maritime sector. Now in its third edition, BDMW 2026 features a three-day programme covering eight key maritime themes that brings together around 70 exhibitors from the sector and international organisations.
