Looking for a Plus One! 😊

I'm interested in attending "Kiut Kan Kawanku? (Vol. 2)" on Saturday, 8 August 2026 (8:00 PM–10:00 PM) at Sweetzandmore, Setia Point.

The event is a relaxed social networking experience where participants attend in pairs. One person gives a short 5-minute introduction about their friend (their wingperson) to help them make genuine connections, friendships, expand their network, or possibly meet someone special.

Event Highlights:
β€’ 20–30 attendees
β€’ 10–15 presentations
β€’ Icebreaker/"Get To Know Each Other" activities
β€’ Finger food & refreshments included
β€’ Respectful and safe environment
β€’ Attendance is required in pairs

πŸ’΅ Participation Fee: $20 per pair (I'll cover the registration fee.)

πŸ“… Sign-up closes: Sunday, 2 August 2026 (Interest form)

I'm not sure whether the organisers require specific pairings (male/female or otherwise), so I'll confirm that with them. If you're interested in joining me as my plus oneβ€”or simply networking, making new friends, or collaboratingβ€”please send me a message.

Hope to see you there!

I’m looking for genuine advice from business owners, managers, and decision-makers.

I’m an independent Business Development Manager currently building Helmi Hassan Global.

I support organisations in areas such as:

β€’ Business Development

β€’ Operational Improvement

β€’ Business Process Improvement

β€’ Workflow Analysis and Optimisation

β€’ AI Advisory

β€’ Microsoft 365 Productivity Advisory

β€’ Digital Transformation Advisory

β€’ Website Design and Development Coordination

β€’ Strategic Partnerships

β€’ Market Research

β€’ Stakeholder Engagement

β€’ Project Coordination

β€’ Innovation Consulting

β€’ Accessibility and Inclusive Business Advisory

Depending on the project, I may also collaborate with trusted consultants and specialists from Singapore and other countries.

My question is:

Why is it so difficult to introduce and sell a genuine professional service today?

Scams and spam have understandably made organisations more cautious.

Emails often go unanswered.

Telephone calls may be ignored because people do not know whether the caller is genuine.

LinkedIn messages and social media messages can also be overlooked.

How can legitimate consultants and service providers build trust when organisations are afraid of scammers and spammers?

Do organisations still prefer:

β€’ Personal introductions

β€’ Referrals

β€’ Hard-copy letters delivered by hand

β€’ Face-to-face meetings

β€’ Networking events

β€’ Workshops

β€’ Official company profiles

β€’ Government or industry programmes

I am also interested in understanding why AI adoption remains difficult.

Brunei has already introduced guidance on responsible AI and AI governance, including the use of AI to improve productivity and support tasks such as communication and administration.

However, many organisations still appear hesitant to discuss AI, digital transformation, workflow improvement, or business process improvement.

I would genuinely like to ask business owners and decision-makers:

β€’ What makes you trust a consultant?

β€’ What would convince you to reply to an email or message?

β€’ What is the best way for a new consultancy to introduce its services?

β€’ Do you prefer a meeting, presentation, proposal, workshop, or trial project?

β€’ Are hard-copy letters still necessary in Brunei?

β€’ What concerns do organisations have about AI advisory and digital transformation?

I am not a scammer or spammer.

The consultants and business partners I work with are real professionals from Singapore and other parts of the world.

We want to help organisations solve practical problems, improve operations, and explore responsible technology.

I am not posting this to pressure anyone into buying a service.

I am trying to understand how genuine service providers can build trust and reach the right organisations.

I would sincerely appreciate your advice and feedback.

πŸš— WHAT IF BRUNEI HAD A RENTAL MARKETPLACE FOR MORE THAN JUST CARS?

I have been thinking about a possible gap that could benefit both tourism and local communities in Brunei.

Brunei already has car rentals, but what if the rental concept was expanded into a broader platform for useful items and services?

Imagine being able to rent:

β€’ Bicycles and e-bikes

β€’ Camping equipment

β€’ Cameras and photography gear

β€’ Baby equipment

β€’ Wheelchairs and mobility aids

β€’ Power tools

β€’ Event equipment

β€’ Portable Wi-Fi devices

β€’ Other useful items that people may only need temporarily

Instead of buying something that may only be used once or twice, people could rent it when needed.

This could potentially:

βœ… Help tourists explore Brunei more easily

βœ… Help families save money

βœ… Help SMEs access equipment more affordably

βœ… Allow people to earn income from underused items

βœ… Encourage a sharing economy

I am not saying the demand is already proven.

I am interested in finding out whether people in Brunei would actually use a trusted rental marketplace.

What do you think?

Would you use a platform like this?

What items or services would you most like to see available for rent?

πŸ€” What if we changed the way surveys are created?

Instead of organisations deciding what questions people should answer...

What if communities first decided what topics actually matter to them?

I'm currently exploring a concept called "What Matters" β€” a community-first approach that encourages people to identify and prioritise the topics they genuinely care about before surveys are created.

I'm not sharing all the details yet, but I'd love to hear your opinion.

Would you be more likely to participate in surveys if the topics were chosen by the community instead of the organisation?

Why or why not?

Every perspective is welcome.

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
and good day everyone.

My name is Helmi Hassan.

I am supporting the introduction of Blue Owl
in Brunei Darussalam.

Blue Owl is a Singapore-based initiative
designed to support children with autism.

In the future, it may also expand to support
other neurodivergent individuals and persons
with disabilities.

The main purpose of Blue Owl is to help:

β€’ Children with autism

β€’ Parents and caregivers

β€’ SPED teachers

β€’ Schools

β€’ Therapists

β€’ Support organisations

β€’ Community partners

Blue Owl is not intended to replace:

β€’ Teachers

β€’ Doctors

β€’ Therapists

β€’ Schools

β€’ Existing support services

Instead, Blue Owl is designed to complement
their work through practical digital tools.

The platform aims to improve communication,
learning support and coordination between:

β€’ Children

β€’ Parents

β€’ Teachers

β€’ Schools

β€’ Therapists

β€’ Caregivers

For the initial phase, Blue Owl mainly focuses
on children up to approximately 10 years old.

Teenagers, young adults and adults may require
different modules because their needs,
development and daily challenges are different.

Blue Owl may later expand with separate modules
for different age groups.

The platform may include features such as:

β€’ Learning activities

β€’ Progress support

β€’ Communication tools

β€’ Rewards

β€’ Badges

β€’ Games

β€’ Parent guidance

β€’ Teacher support

β€’ Community engagement

These features will be developed progressively
based on feedback, available funding and a
sustainable business model.

The Blue Owl application is currently being
prepared for release on the Google Play Store.

The initial download is expected to be free
because many parents already have significant
expenses relating to:

β€’ Medical appointments

β€’ Therapy

β€’ Medication

β€’ Education

β€’ Daily care

At this stage, our purpose is not to promote
another application aggressively.

Our purpose is to introduce Blue Owl,
understand the needs of the Brunei community

TRUSTEDCONNECT
Know Who Is Contacting You Before You Respond
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

I'm currently working on a new project called TrustedConnect.

The idea is simple.

How can we help people feel more confident before answering an unknown phone call or responding to an unfamiliar message?

As scams, phishing attempts, fake businesses and identity fraud continue to evolve, many people now hesitate to answer calls or messages from unknown senders.

Unfortunately, this also means genuine businesses, organisations and professionals may struggle to reach the people they are trying to contact.

TrustedConnect explores how trusted identity verification could improve confidence across everyday digital communication, including telephone calls, SMS, WhatsApp, email and selected social media platforms.

The project is currently in the research and validation stage. I'm exploring ideas, studying international best practices and speaking with potential stakeholders before deciding on the next steps.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

What information would give you greater confidence before responding to an unfamiliar caller or message?

Instead of waiting for the Government to solve every problem, can students, professionals, businesses, NGOs, innovators and community members work together on practical private-sector solutions?

Possible areas include:

1. Immigration and relocation support

1. Digital transformation and paperless systems

1. Compliance and documentation

1. Human resources and workforce development

1. Education technology

1. Healthcare and caregiver support

1. Tourism and visitor experiences

1. Business development and SME growth

1. Accessibility and inclusion

1. Community and NGO development

1. Environment and sustainability

1. Property and facilities management

1. Agriculture and food solutions

1. AI, data and workflow improvement

These projects would not replace Government authority.

They would help people, businesses and organisations through information, technology, research, support services, digital platforms and practical pilot projects.

Which area should Brunei prioritise?

Please comment:

β€’ Project number

β€’ The specific problem you want solved

β€’ Your skills or experience

β€’ Whether you would join a team

β€’ Whether your organisation could test, support or sponsor a pilot

Students, developers, researchers, businesses, NGOs, professionals, volunteers, sponsors and innovators are welcome.

Let us identify real problems, form the right teams and build practical solutions together.

πŸ€” A GENUINE QUESTION ABOUT SURVEYS AND PUBLIC FEEDBACK

Why do so many people only participate in surveys when there is a lucky draw, voucher, free gift, free food or some other reward?

If a survey is anonymous and is genuinely trying to improve services, businesses, education, healthcare, transportation or the community, why are people still reluctant to participate?

Is it because:

β€’ You do not have enough time?

β€’ You do not trust how the information will be used?

β€’ Surveys are usually too long?

β€’ You have answered surveys before but never saw any improvements?

β€’ You feel that your opinion will not make a difference?

β€’ You expect something in return for your time?

Researchers, startups, NGOs, businesses and even ordinary individuals may need fresh information directly from the public.

We do not always want to depend only on old reports, historical records or information collected by large organisations.

Sometimes, we simply want to understand what people are experiencing right now.

However, collecting honest public feedback can be extremely difficult.

People may ignore QR codes, online forms and survey links.

We may then have to approach people individually, carry printed forms or spend money on prizes just to receive enough responses.

My genuine question is:

Why should someone have to provide a free item or financial reward just to receive a few minutes of honest feedback that could help improve the community?

I am not criticising anyone.

I genuinely want to understand.

What would encourage you to answer a survey without expecting a prize?

What kind of survey would you willingly answer?

How long should a reasonable survey take?

Would you participate if it were completely anonymous?

What would make you trust that your feedback could lead to real action?

There are no right or wrong answers.

I am looking for honest opinions, not likes, emojis or simple thumbs-up reactions.

Please explain what normally stops you from answering surveys and what would make you more willing to participate.

πŸ’ HYPOTHETICAL LEADERSHIP QUESTION

Just a friendly thought experiment.

This is not directed at or criticising any particular government or country.

Imagine that you were given the highest level of leadership and decision-making responsibility in your country.

If you could improve ONE system, service, or area to make people’s daily lives better, what would you change first?

How quickly would you try to make visible progress?

⏳ Less than 3 months

⏳ 3–6 months

⏳ 1–3 years

⏳ 5–10 years

It could be anything, such as:

β€’ Public services

β€’ Transportation

β€’ Education

β€’ Healthcare

β€’ Employment

β€’ Business processes

β€’ Technology

β€’ Accessibility

β€’ Government communication

β€’ Another area you feel is important

The question is simply:

πŸ‘‰ If you had the authority, resources, and responsibility to make one meaningful improvement, what would you prioritise first, and why?

Please keep the discussion respectful, constructive, and non-political.

This is only a hypothetical question about leadership, ideas, and improving systems.
