We have organized a second edition of a regional coffee roasting championship, we named Coffers Best Cup Battle. It was all about bringing the coffee community together, exchanging knowledge, and having fun. Everything spiced with specialty coffees from the Caparao mountains🇧🇷.This year competitors from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Italy gathered in our European base in Crnomelj, Slovenia.

And although in the end, we all have concluded this friendly contest as winners, the true winner can only be one: Ivanec Sebastien Florian, coffee roaster from , congrats💪💪🔥🔥

Once more, we would like to thank the competitors who helped to create an awesome vibe. And very special thanks to our dear friend for his help in organizing the event.

Every year we are extremely happy seing first coffee cherries maturing. However, this year our happiness is interwined with worries.

Extensive heat across ALL Brazilian coffee growing regions is seriously harming the development cycle of the cherries, especially the growth of the beans inside of them.

It is already a fact, that the harvest will be reduced. The only question is how large will be the demage. Yes, we are in urgent need of some rain and lower temperatures.

Diamonds are forever - or why do we mostly work with naturally processed coffees?

First of all, we simply love their sensorics, with full body and rich fragrance. But there is more...

According to our (and many other) tests, naturally processed coffees maintain their quality and physical appearance for much longer than other processes.

Besides that, naturally processed coffees require way less water and energy in their postharvest. In natural processing there is also much lower equipment cost and is as such easier accessible to small farmers. As such, we find it much more sustainable.

Last but not least, we simply love the ancient approach to processing! We find amazing the fact that it is a natural journey starting with the flower, continues through rippening cherry and "finnishes" with dried coffee cherry. That way, the cup of naturally processed coffee involves way less complex intervention during postharvest when comparing to other methods.

Coffee Festival Slovenia, is one of our favorite coffee events and this year we spiced it up with a challenging contest, we named it .

Five brave competitors were encountered with a cupping table filled with eight specialty grade coffees from Caparao mountains🇧🇷. Each could selected two of them and received 200 grams of green beans. Afterwards he had an hour to roast them to perfection.

The last step was to prepare mind-blowing filter coffee, using a single coffee or making a super blend.

All out of five competitors had shown exceptional knowledge and dedication, and consequently they have all prepared an amazing coffee. A small detail that put a cherry on the top of my cake of happiness – each one had a different approach to brewing!

Despite the five excellent coffees, only onr can be a winner... Soooo, international team of judges
, and grade them with help of a great tool and decided that the winner is...

, the head roaster and a barista at from Ljubljana.

For smoother and funkier event, our friends from and had borrowed kindly lent us the equipment and added some great accessories to the prize fund 😀 So besides a beautiful experience and new knowledge, everyone came home with something usefull. Thousand thanks for your support🤝💪

Dear Mariia and Lev, thank you for your help. Special thanks as well to for help with the organisation and Mr president for being the best MC ever💪

Last but not least, thank you all for participation❤️

Cheers☕️ from 🇧🇷 to whole community and to many more funky events like this one.

Visiting coffee plantations on the Caparao mountains 🇧🇷 Very happy to see that despite low precipitation in the end of 2023, the rains in last weeks recovered the development of the coffee cherries.

It is always a special moment seeing the first coffee cherries starting to mature. For now it all looks that the harvest will start sooner this year😃

Cheers from Caparao mountains☕️🇧🇷🤟

I simply adore how exact physical evaluation of the green coffee tells you the whole story about each coffee lot.

Before we roast a sample, each virgin lot we recieve from the farmer is carefuly checked for its smell, color, screen sizes, possible defects, humidty and density.

And just if the coffee passes all those phases, it is time for roasting and sensoric evaluation (cupping).

The Coffea arabica can grow up to around 12 m in height in the wilderness. When cultivated on well kept plantations it is usually trimmed as low as 2 m to facilitate harvesting.

However, we love the "Out of the box approach" as it is an important driver of development and improvements in the coffee world. This beauty here on the photo grew up to 5 m.

Harvest of the coffee cherries for our Caramelo is at its peak. Caramelo is naturally dried coffee produced in partnership with small family farms located in the Caparaó mountains 🇧🇷, on altitudes between 1200 and 1350 m above sea level.

With notes of caramel, nuts and honey, smooth body and beautiful lively citric acidity, it is a great option for your single origin espresso and as well for a solid base of your signature house blend.

Cheers from Caparao mountains🤟🇧🇷☕️
