𝗙𝗣𝗦𝗢 𝗣-𝟳𝟵 𝗔𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗕𝘂́𝘇𝗶𝗼𝘀

After 𝗙𝗣𝗦𝗢 𝗣-𝟳𝟴 started production on December 31st, the Búzios field welcomed a new unit earlier this week: 𝗙𝗣𝗦𝗢 𝗣-𝟳𝟵. The unit is now the eighth production platform in the field, with a total of 12 units planned under Petrobras’ 2026–2030 Business Plan.

The FPSO, built by 𝗦𝗔𝗠𝗘 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀, is designed to be connected to eight production wells and six injection wells, with a production capacity of up to 180,000 barrels per day and a gas processing capacity of up to 7.2 million cubic meters per day. The unit is currently undergoing final commissioning and pre-operational procedures before starting production.

𝗞𝗨𝗙𝗣𝗘𝗖 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗢𝗿𝗰𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁

Early this week, 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹 announced the sale of a 20% working interest in the 𝗢𝗿𝗰𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 (𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻) to 𝗞𝘂𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Company (𝗞𝗨𝗙𝗣𝗘𝗖). The Orca and Sul de Orca fields were declared commercial in mid-2025.

Both areas originate from the 𝗦-𝗠-𝟱𝟭𝟴 (𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗼) and 𝗦𝘂𝗹 𝗱𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗼 blocks, acquired respectively in the 7th Concession Bid Round (2005) and the 2nd Production Sharing Bid Round (2017). The original consortium was formed by 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹 (50%), 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 (30%), and 𝗧𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 (20%).

Last year, 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹 acquired 𝗧𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀’ stake in the project and has now transferred the same 20% interest to 𝗞𝗨𝗙𝗣𝗘𝗖. As a result, the current consortium structure for both fields is 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹 (50%), 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 (30%), and 𝗞𝗨𝗙𝗣𝗘𝗖 (20%).

According to 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹's press release, the deal is subject to regulatory approvals and closing conditions, with completion expected by the end of 2026.

𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗿 has applied for three drilling permits in the 𝗦-𝗠-𝟭𝟯𝟳𝟴 block, just outside the Pre-Salt polygon in the Santos Basin. The block was acquired in 2023, during the 𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗴𝗲. The Norwegian company also acquired, in the last concession bid round (5th cycle – 2025), the 𝗦-𝗠-𝟭𝟲𝟭𝟳 block, located slightly to the southwest.

This area lies adjacent to 𝗕𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗲, where bp recently announced its largest discovery in 25 years. Notably, 𝗦-𝗠-𝟭𝟯𝟳𝟴 is among the blocks farthest from shore, located approximately 353 km offshore.

𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘀 𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝘇 𝗱𝗼 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

On October 20, 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘀 received final approval to drill an exploration well in the Foz do Amazonas Basin, part of 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗹’𝘀 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻. The wildcat well, named 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗵𝗼, is located in block 𝗙𝗭𝗔-𝗠-𝟬𝟱𝟵, about 175 kilometers off the coast of Amapá, in deep waters.

Drilling operations are being conducted by the drillship ODN II, which arrived on site in late August and had been awaiting the operating license. According to 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘀’ president, the company expects drilling activities to take about five months to complete.

The original licensing process dates back to 2014, when the block was operated by 𝗯𝗽 in partnership with 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘀. The initial environmental license application covered several contingent wells in addition to Morpho – including Manga, Maracujá, Marolo, and Mangaba.

After acquiring 𝗯𝗽’s stake in 2021, 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘀 became the sole operator of the block and has since worked to meet all of 𝗜𝗕𝗔𝗠𝗔’s environmental requirements. One of the final conditions was a Pre-Operational Assessment (APO), concluded in August.

While 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘀 has obtained a drilling permit only for Morpho, their initial request included three additional contingent wells, and the company is expected to push for these permits as soon as possible.
