Art Lives Here!

We are very proud to feature here at Casa Beleza the work of several local artists. We hope our guests appreciate their tremendous talents, and many of them have works for sale if you would like to take home a special memory of your trip to Brazil!

1. SANKOFA by Nelson Crisostomo
Mixed media

This dynamic abstract painter uses many natural pigments and influences of African and Indigenous art in his work. His nearby gallery sells a wonderful assortment of hand-dyed one of a kind clothing too.

2. Lighting Strike by Leo MdeO
Acrylic on canvas
Guests will recognise this view of the local church done by a young painter who grew up at Casa Beleza, depicting the true life event of lightning striking the local Catholic church in a dramatic storm.

3. O Menino by Alex Dahora
Oil on canvas

Guests who knock on our door will get a glimpse of this magical and illuminating work by Bahian artist Alex Dahora, a vision of his upbringing on a quilombo in Bahia. He now studies painting at the prestigious Escola de Belas Artes at the Federal University of Rio.

4. Various Sculptures by Getulio
Getulio is a Santa Teresa institution! His colourful and playful dolls made entirely out of recycled materials can be spotted all over
Casa Beleza, and a visit to his Bonde workshop up the street is enchanting!

5. Zartus by Andrey Miller
Enamel and putty on canvas

An evocative abstract work it captures a golden sea of emotions and perceptions, and is located exclusive to our Blue Room.
