🏆 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐩 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐩 🏆
To mark the new year, 32 of the most renowned and popular comedians are going head to head tomorrow, to see who will be the Standup Comedy Champion!
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬
• 32 comedians are split into 8 groups of 4
•A poll will be posted of each group's four comedians.
•You all vote for your favorite comics.
•The comedians with the top two scores will move into the knockout stage.
𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
We have districted our comedy-contenders based on 2 criteria:
1) randomisation
2) gender and ethnicity
We wanted to randomise our groupings as much as possible while also ensuring that minority comedians were not eliminated unfairly early. Therefore, we set a rule that we would have at least one minority per group. Other than that, the grouping selection process was blind and randomised.
𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭?
About six months ago, we did a similar tournament, but the main complaints we received was that a) the early knockout eliminated strong comedians too early, and b) the seeding was unfair. That is why we have decided to redo it in a way that is fairer, through structuring the tournament like the World Cup with “groups”. The top two comedians with the most votes in each group will then move to knockout.
𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐫
We are aware that many of you have your own favorite comedians, and that some of them may have not made the list. Our selection is based on popularity, diversity and iconicity. However, we are not saying that these comedians are any more or less skilled than any of your favorite comic. Our choices are meant to cover the broadest amount of our audience possible. If there are comedians that many people feel we have missed, we will do everything we can to include them in the next one.
