It's easy to get carried away when sharing your story, especially when trying to make an impression. However, even if your story is extraordinary, continuous rambling can lead to losing your audience's interest.

Rather than making a positive impression, you might end up boring them or coming across as arrogant!

Aim for 3-5 minutes, as this gives you enough time to cover your highlights without going overboard and into too much detail.

People seek genuine connections, not robotic performances. Remember, your interviewer has been in your shoes and understands nerves are normal.

Instead of rigidly memorizing scripts, prepare by researching, reviewing materials, and noting key points to cover. During the interview, try to stay relaxed and to enjoy the conversation.

Have you ever considered why passport control officers ask seemingly obvious, even irrelevant questions? Where are you coming from, when was the last time you visited, where are you staying?

They're on the lookout for any inconsistencies: if your story changes or what you say doesn't match the facts, that's a BIG red flag! Same goes for MBA interviews!

Your interviewer wants to get to know you, but they're pros at noticing any inconsistencies in your stories, goals, and vision. Stick to what you've shared and steer clear of changing the narrative - it's a sure way to not make the cut.

Here are my best tips for to make sure you get in as a reapplicant:

➡️ Take an honest look at your profile. What were the weak spots? Low GMAT? Lack of leadership experience? Identifying these areas is the first step to addressing them head-on.

➡️ Show improvement. Retake the GMAT, take on new responsibilities at work, or pursue relevant extracurriculars. Prove to the admissions committee that you're committed to growth.

➡️ Continue to engage with the school, whether through a campus visit, engaging with students and alumni, or attending online events. This shows that you’re 100% invested in their program.

➡️ Revamp your essays and letters of recommendation. Don't just recycle your old application. Craft a new narrative that highlights your progress and renewed vision for your MBA journey.
