I had the privilege of spending the morning with the Grade 12 students of St. Georges High, kicking off our Career Readiness: Know Your Worth series.

We started with one powerful idea:
Knowing your worth is the first step to earning your worth.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be working through a custom CASH Insight student workbook, covering: resumes, portfolios, personal philosophy statements, understanding soft, hard, and marketable skills, and preparing for job interviews.

By the end of this series, each student will have a starter portfolio, a ready to use resume, and language to speak confidently about the value they bring.

The students were engaged, curious, and so open to thinking differently about their future. Moments like this remind me why I left my 13-year career in logistics, to help the next generation step into the world of work informed, prepared, and confident in their worth.

If your school, youth group, or organization is interested in a career readiness and salary awareness session or series, I’d be happy to connect.

CASH Insight
Helping Bahamians know their worth, earn their worth, and show up confidently in the workplace.

KNOW YOUR WORTH WEDNESDAY

"You’re not stuck, you’re planted."

Two weeks ago at DISRUPT HR Nassau, a theme echoed through the room, in short, growth starts in the dark. Like a seed buried in soil, transformation begins when we’re stretched, pressed, and sometimes hidden.

But when the environment is right, when your spirit is fed, your gifts are respected, your faith is stretched, and your identity is affirmed, growth becomes inevitable.

For years, many of us have tried to bloom in soil that didn’t nourish us. Workplaces where our worth was questioned, our pay was unequal, and our voices were muted.

Because the soil matters.

Where you plant yourself determines how you grow.

So take inventory.
- Are you nourishing your skills?
- Stretching your faith?
- Tending to your confidence?

Now is the time to dig deep, uproot what no longer serves you, and do the work to rise stronger.

Your gifts deserve the right environment to shine.

And your growth, that’s your responsibility, and your power.

Have you found your place to flourish? If not, start by knowing your worth.

Take our salary survey and help us grow a future where everyone is paid fairly.

Where are the men in this salary conversation?

As I review the data from our survey, one thing is clear, we’re missing a vital voice.

Only 11.7% of current survey responses come from men.

That number matters.

Because if we’re going to build a national salary database that reflects the real value of work in The Bahamas, we need input from everyone, men included.

This isn’t just a “women’s issue.”

Pay transparency, fair compensation, and salary benchmarks impact.
- Fathers raising families
- Young men trying to choose a career path
- Entrepreneurs pricing themselves correctly
- Men negotiating promotions without knowing their market value

Without full participation, especially from men across industries and islands, the data is incomplete, and the solution will be too.

If you’re a Bahamian man working in any field, your experience counts. Your voice matters.

Take the time to complete the survey.

Help shape a future where all Bahamians can negotiate from a place of confidence, not guesswork.

Seventeen disruptors. Five minutes each. One powerful reminder. HR is not standing still, it’s evolving.

This past Friday, I had the opportunity to travel to Nassau for the Disrupt HR event. Seventeen disruptors took the stage with five minute speeches, each bringing a unique lens on the current state of HR and leadership.

The energy in the room was undeniable. Being in a space with like minded, goal driven individuals reminded me that while our struggles may feel personal, they are not unique, and it is in community and networking that we find strength to push forward.

Despite tropical storm alerts sounding off left and right, each speaker pressed on, fully prepared to deliver their message. That resilience alone was a lesson, no matter the distractions, preparation and focus keep you moving toward your goal.

It was an honor to meet Amad Rashad Thompson, PHRi someone I’ve followed and drawn inspiration from for quite some time. The host, Valdez K. Russell, truly kept the room engaged from start to finish, reminding me how important it is when others recognize the value of what we’re doing, even when the road feels difficult.

Walking away from this event, I am encouraged to keep showing up, even if scared, even when it’s hard. Because if it isn’t hard, it likely isn’t meaningful.
Grateful for the experience, the insights, and the reminder that the work we do when done with courage and persistence matters.

Events like these remind me why I started CASH Insight to challenge workplace norms and build tools like Baha Salary Scale so no one leaves their worth at the door.

What workplace norm do you think needs disrupting?
Let's talk about it.

SKILLS vs OPPORTUNITY

Today, I had the honor of attending the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce’s monthly business meeting, where the guest speaker was The Hon. Pia Glover-Rolle,MP, Minister of Labour and Public Service. Her message was timely and powerful.

She spoke about the state of labor in The Bahamas and the work her Ministry is doing with mental health leave, expanded maternity leave, paternity leave, and access to free education and training. One point stood out that jobs are here, but we lack the skilled workers to fill them.

While unemployment remains below 10%, many Bahamians aren’t equipped to access the higher paying jobs that are available. Minister Glover-Rolle emphasized that upskilling opportunities are available and free, but many Bahamians aren’t taking advantage. The issue isn’t just access, it’s awareness.

What’s often missed is that these programs are only free to Bahamians. Non-Bahamians must pay to attend the same institutions. We need a shift in mindset, free doesn’t mean worthless, free is a privilege. Showing the true cost of these programs elsewhere may help Bahamians see the value in what’s being offered to them at no charge. I think this presents a unique opportunity for the Ministry of Education and related agencies to highythe true value of these programs.

This is exactly what CASH Insight and Baha Salary Scale are about, helping people understand what skills are needed, what jobs are paying, and how to prepare for opportunity. Our national salary survey is building the country’s first centralized salary database giving professionals the knowledge to advocate for fair pay and helping employers build more equitable compensation structures.

As a proud Chamber member, I left the meeting encouraged. With leadership like Minister Glover-Rolle’s and initiatives like ours, I believe we’re moving toward a more prepared, more empowered workforce.

Just sat here and recorded a whole 8 minute, personalized screen record and tutorial…with no audio. I’M IN MY FEELINGS 🥹. No, I don’t want to talk about it!

But let’s talk about Theresa, the mastermind at CASH Insight / Baha Salary Scale. She decided she didn’t want to play small with her BIG brand.

A conversation that started with her asking my feedback on a design she’d been working on in Canva ended with her trusting me to take it over altogether and we are loving how it turned out!

Don’t you?
