🐛🦋 Mental Health Moment ~ Grief Talk Series
When You Don’t Recognize Yourself Anymore✨️
Grieving the Person You Thought You Were 💞I Would Never Lie About Something Like That” — Until Lying Became Convenient
Most of us have things we believe we would never do.
We know where our lines are. We know what we value. We know the kind of person we believe ourselves to be.
And then, sometimes, the line moves.
Not necessarily because we woke up one morning and decided that honesty no longer mattered. Sometimes it begins with something much smaller.
We leave out one important detail.
We change the story just enough to protect ourselves.
We allow someone to believe something we know isn't true.
We stay quiet because correcting the record might cost us something.
And eventually, something we once believed we would never do becomes something we have learned to justify.
This happens in our personal lives.
We may lie to avoid confrontation, protect a relationship, conceal a choice, maintain an image, or avoid disappointing someone. But when dishonesty repeatedly becomes the easier option, we can eventually find ourselves looking at our own behaviour and wondering:
When did this become so easy for me?
The same thing can happen in the workplace.
Perhaps we withhold information because sharing it could benefit someone else. We allow a colleague to take blame for something we know wasn't entirely their responsibility. We alter the truth because admitting what actually happened could affect our position, reputation, promotion, or relationship with leadership.
Sometimes we don't even tell the lie.
We simply allow the convenient version of the truth to stand.
And there can be grief in that realization.
Because when our behaviour repeatedly contradicts the values we believed defined us, we don't only risk losing the trust of other people.
We can begin losing trust in ourselves.
That is a different kind of loss.
The grief may not be for another person. It may be for the version of ourselves who once knew exactly where the line was—and believed we would never cross it.
Today isn't about condemnation. It's about reflection.
What have you started calling necessary, harmless, or convenient that an earlier version of you would have called wrong?
Sometimes finding our way back to ourselves begins with being willing to tell ourselves the truth.✨️

Talent gets attention Strategy builds careers

Behind every visible brand, powerful personality, and successful career is something people rarely see positioning, management, discipline, relationships and strategy

September 8th, Tuesday on Kenny’s Korner, I sit down with Amad Rashad Thompson, CEO of Astute Talent Management, to talk about the BUSINESS of talent

How do you move from being gifted to being marketable
How do you position yourself for the right opportunities
And what separates people who have talent from those who actually build sustainable careers

If you are an entrepreneur, creative, professional, entertainer or emerging talent, this conversation is for you

📻 Guardian Radio 96.9 FM

Your talent may get you in the room Your strategy determines whether you stay there

Back to school is not just about new uniforms new books and new classrooms

It is about **continued learning**
These children watching how we handle challenges
How we speak about ourselves
How willing we are to learn something new
How we recover when we get it wrong

So while we encourage them to study let us remember that **we should never stop being students either**

Read the book ( I listen to the book)
Take the course
Ask the question
Learn the new skill
Try again

Education does not end when you leave the classroom

**Keep learning
Keep growing
Keep becoming**

Because when our children see us committed to growth we teach them that learning is for LIFE 💕

Everybody is asking
“Does your child have everything they need for school?”
But let me ask YOU something
Do YOU have everything YOU need mentally to get through another school year?
Because parenting can be beautiful and still be overwhelming
You can love your children deeply and still feel exhausted
You can be grateful and still need a break
You can be strong and still need somebody to say
“How are YOU doing?”
Tonight on Kenny’s Korner, we are taking the conversation beyond books, uniforms and school fees
We are talking about THE MENTAL PRESSURE ADULTS CARRY TOO
And I’m bringing in professional therapist Rickell Curry to help us have the conversation we sometimes avoid

Come ready to be honest

Beyond the Cute Back-to-School Photos… 🎒

Beyond the perfectly posed pictures, fresh uniforms and proud social media posts, some parents are under enormous pressure too

The pressure to get our children into the “best” school
The pressure for them to make the team, the honor roll, the right friend group
The pressure to keep up with what we see other parents doing
The pressure to make sure our children never appear to be “behind”

But when does our pressure become their pressure?

Are we creating opportunities for our children because they need them, or because we are afraid they will be left behind?

And while we talk about the mental health of our children, who is checking on the mental health of the adults raising them?

This Tuesday on Kenny’s Korner, Professional Therapist Rickell Curry joins me for a necessary Back to School conversation

Maybe the children aren't the only ones who need help managing the pressure

The Bahamian economy grew by an estimated 3.8% in 2025, and the economic momentum continues. Tourism is expanding, investment is moving, construction is active and opportunities are being created.

So let me ask you…

What are you waiting for?

That business idea you've been talking about?
That service you've been thinking about offering?
That skill you've been sitting on?
That side hustle you've been afraid to start?

START.....just damn start

You don't need everything figured out. You need a plan, consistency and the courage to take the first step.

Because while some people are waiting for the “perfect time,” Mommy Hustle is looking for the opportunity inside the moment. 💼🔥

Your idea could be somebody else's solution.

Stop talking about it. Build it.

SEPTEMBER CHECK-IN
Did you make money?
Did you make connections?
Did you learn something?
Did you become more visible?
Did you move closer to the woman you said you wanted to become?

You can’t build something solid from counterfeit parts....be YOU bei...just be YOU either they like you or they don't and in some cases they don't even like themselves...

You can fake the image
Fake the connections
Fake the confidence
Fake the character

But eventually, pressure will expose what was never authentic

Be real
Build with substance
Build with integrity
Build with pieces that can actually carry the weight of where you’re going....do you run your own race bei!

Because when the foundation is counterfeit, eventually the whole thing will crack

Authenticity will always outlast imitation...do you
