Hello Valued Haulers, Park Neighbours and Friends!

At New Providence Ecology Park (NPEP), safety, environmental responsibility, and community care are at the heart of everything we do.

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving road safety and maintaining a cleaner, safer environment, we are excited to launch PROJECT TARP — effective today September 1st, 2025.

This campaign is designed to encourage and enforce the proper tarping of all loads before entering and leaving the park.

Why does Tarping Matter?

1. Keep Our Roads Safe – Prevent debris from damaging our roadways.
2. Protect the Environment – Minimize littering and pollution in surrounding communities.
3. Safeguard Your Loads – Lessens the chances of load shifting or falling from your vehicle.
4. Stay Compliant with traffic Laws – Meet national safety standards and avoid potential fines or penalties.

We are counting on your full cooperation to help us maintain a safe and responsible waste management system.

During the campaign, our team will be monitoring trucks entering and exiting the facility to ensure loads are properly secured.

NOTICE: Temporary Road Closure
Beginning Sunday, August 24th, the Harold Road entrance to the New Providence Ecology Park will be temporarily closed.
During this period, all access to the landfill will be available ONLY via the Fire Trail Road entrance.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to improve our facilities. Please plan your route accordingly.

NOTICE: Controlled Burns in Progress
The New Providence Ecology Park will conduct controlled burns over the next six weeks, between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

These burns are part of our safe disposal process for large tree stumps collected from various land clearing projects around the island. The stumps are too large to be mulched, and as such, controlled burning is the most effective method of disposal.

⚫️ No waste is being burned. Only tree stumps and wooden pallets are included in the burn.
⚫️ The process is being safely managed by our Landfill Operations Team and overseen by the Operations Manager.
⚫️ The Department of Environmental Health has been notified.

We assure the public that there is no risk, and all activity is being carried out under strict supervision.

The New Providence Ecology Park is now open earlier and longer to better serve haulers, patrons, and stakeholders.
📍 New Hours of Operation:
⚫️ Mon–Fri: 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM
⚫️ Sat & Sun: 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM
⚫️ Public Holidays: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM

These changes are designed to enhance accessibility, improve collection efficiency, and offer greater operational flexibility.

Roadworks Update: Paving in Progress!

We’re excited to share that City Dump Road—from Tonique Williams-Darling Highway to our Admin Building—is getting a much-needed upgrade!

Starting Sunday, May 4th, 2025, the Ministry of Works will commence road paving to improve accessibility and safety for all who visit and work at New Providence Ecology Park. Completion is expected by June 1st, 2025.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time. Please follow all signage and drive cautiously in the area.
