JUST IN: A Bahamian national living illegally in the United States has been sentenced to 27 years in prison after admitting to the sexual exploitation of an 11-year-old child in Virginia.
According to U.S. court documents, 38-year-old Rian Wayne Johnson was sentenced after investigators determined that between May and July 2025, he sexually abused the child, for whom he served as a primary caregiver. Authorities say Johnson recorded the abuse on his cellphone and kept the videos in his possession.
The case came to light on July 15, 2025, when Newport News Police responded to a report of suspected child sexual abuse and found Johnson with the victim at a residence.
The investigation was led by Homeland Security Investigations Washington, D.C., with assistance from the Newport News Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa R. McKeel prosecuted the case.
The matter was pursued under Project Safe Childhood, a U.S. Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating the sexual exploitation and abuse of children nationwide.
