BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST

BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST FOR TONIGHT, TOMORROW AND THE NEXT SIX (6) DAYS, ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AT 6:00 P.M. EDT, Sunday, June 14, 2026. THE NEXT SCHEDULED FORECAST WILL BE ISSUED AT 6:00 A.M. EDT TOMORROW.

WARNING IN EFFECT: There are no public warnings in effect at this time. For marine information, please view our Marine Forecast on our website, met.gov.bs.

GENERAL SITUATION: The combination of multi-level troughing and abundant moisture streaming northward from the northern portion of a tropical wave near western Cuba continues to generate showers and thunderstorms across the Northwest and Central Bahamas. Some of this activity could become heavy, with thunderstorms reaching severe levels at times. This moisture plume is expected to gradually shift northward on Monday, increasing shower activity over the Northern Bahamas. Meanwhile, conditions across the Southeastern Bahamas are expected to become more stable as high pressure strengthens over the area, supported by the presence of Saharan dust.

Outlook: For the remainder of the work week, a high-pressure ridge will continue to build across the island chain, supporting hot and humid conditions, a few isolated showers, and moderate to fresh breezes over the Southeastern Bahamas. Meanwhile, light to gentle southerly winds will prevail across the Northern, Northwest and Central Bahamas.

SPECIAL WEATHER NOTES: Severe Weather Potential: There is a moderate risk of the development of a few strong to severe thunderstorms over portions of the Northwest and Central Bahamas. The public is urged to remain updated on all severe weather warnings issued by the Bahamas Department of Meteorology.

Heat and UV Index: Members of the public are advised to remain hydrated, wear protective clothing and sunscreen and seek shaded areas while outside during peak sunshine hours (11am – 4pm), as UV indices are expected to be in the very high range and heat indices may reach the lower triple digits.

Rip Currents: A slight to moderate risk of rip currents exists along Atlantic-exposed beaches of the island chain. Beachgoers, particularly those in the Southeast Bahamas, should exercise caution when entering the water.

Flooding: There is a moderate risk of flooding occurring in low-lying, flood prone and urban areas during heavy rainfall events. The public is urged to exercise caution while traversing these areas. Coastal residents are advised that there is a marginal risk of coastal flooding during evening high tides through to Thursday.

BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST

BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT AND THE NEXT SIX (6) DAYS, ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AT 12:00 P.M. EDT, SUNDAY, JUNE 14, 2026. THE NEXT SCHEDULED FORECAST WILL BE ISSUED AT 6:00 P.M. EDT.

WARNING IN EFFECT: There are no public warnings in effect at this time. For marine information, please view our Marine Forecast on our website, met.gov.bs.

GENERAL SITUATION: The northern extent of a tropical wave currently moving across Cuba will interact with a mid to upper level disturbance hovering over the area, triggering instances of heavy showers and locally severe thunderstorms that will gradually move northward up the island chain throughout the period. Expect conditions to become more stable across the southern islands by this evening in the wake of the wave, due to building high pressure and the presence of Saharan Dust.

Outlook: Conditions across the southern portion of the island chain are forecast to improve by Monday as the mid-to upper-level disturbance weakens. Meanwhile, moisture associated with the wave is expected to spread into the Northern Bahamas, leading to higher shower chances across those islands before gradually moving north of the island chain. For the remainder of the work week, ridging will remain established across the country through, resulting in warm and humid conditions with some isolated afternoon showers remaining possible. Winds are expected to strengthen to moderate to fresh as high pressure builds across the region.

SPECIAL WEATHER NOTES:

WARNING IN EFFECT: There are no public warnings in effect at this time.
For marine information, please view our Marine Forecast on our website, met.gov.bs.

GENERAL SITUATION:
The Bahamas is under the influence of a broad Atlantic surface ridge which will contribute to generally stable weather conditions and light to gentle breezes across most of the country tonight. Meanwhile, a mid to upper level trough feature will gradually transport moisture from a nearby tropical wave across the southern half of the country, inducing cloudier conditions over those areas, while supporting the development of showers and thunderstorms later tonight through tomorrow.

Outlook: As the tropical wave moves westward, moisture will gradually spread northward, increasing the likelihood of showers across the northern islands early next week. This moisture is expected to pool ahead of a frontal boundary forecast to approach northern Florida late next week, helping to sustain humid and unsettled weather conditions across the region.

SPECIAL WEATHER NOTES: Heat and UV Index: Members of the public across The Bahamas are advised to remain hydrated, wear protective clothing and sunscreen and seek shaded areas while outside during peak sunshine hours (11am – 4pm), as UV indices are expected to be in the very high to extreme range and heat indices may reach the lower triple digits.

BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST

BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT AND THE NEXT SIX (6) DAYS, ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AT 12:00 P.M. EDT, SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 2026. THE NEXT SCHEDULED FORECAST WILL BE ISSUED AT 6:00 P.M. EDT.

WARNING IN EFFECT: A Near Gale Watch (winds 28 to 33knots) will come into effect for the Southeast Bahamas early Monday morning. Boaters are advised to remain in port and beachgoers stay out of the water. There are no public warnings in effect at this time. For additional marine information, please view our Marine Forecast on our website, met.gov.bs.

GENERAL SITUATION: High pressure remains the dominant weather feature across the Bahamas, supporting light to moderate winds, hot temperatures, and a few isolated passing showers. Meanwhile, a tropical wave interacting with mid- to upper-level troughing near the Southeastern Bahamas will enhance shower activity across that area through tonight.

Outlook: As the tropical wave moves westward, lingering moisture will gradually spread northward, increasing the likelihood of showers across the northern islands early next week. This moisture is expected to pool ahead of a frontal boundary forecast to approach northern Florida late next week, helping to sustain humid and unsettled weather conditions across the region. Additionally, a tight pressure gradient across the Southeastern Bahamas will support increased winds and rougher seas through midweek.

Rip Currents: A slight risk of rip currents exists along Atlantic-exposed beaches of the island chain. The risk increases to moderate in the Southeast Bahamas during the late afternoon and early evening when wind driven waves increase over night. Beachgoers should exercise caution when entering the water.

Saharan Dust: There is a moderate level of Saharan dust across the Southeast Bahamas, and the Turks and Caicos Islands which may impact air quality and hinder visibility. Residents are advised to exercise caution, especially those with respiratory illnesses, should take precautions to safeguard their health.

Coastal Flooding: As a result of the approaching New Moon cycle (Sunday 14th), coastal residents are advised that there is a marginal risk of coastal flooding during evening high tides through to next week Thursday.
