Dearest Bahamian Job Seekers!
We are in an era where creativity is at its peak and the competition for employment is at an all time high!
When submitting your resumes to recruiters, or in response to a job ad PLEASE, PLEASE ensure the following:
1. Your resume is readable
This means your work experience should be in chronological order. Your current, or present employer should be at the top, along with the length of time you have been employed with said company!
2. Your resume is informative
This means the person viewing your resume should be able to see where you were employed, what duties you were assigned, and any accomplishments achieved whiles being employed at said company.
3. Your resume should be accessible
If you are sharing from a google drive, it should not be inaccessible to the recipient.
It is recommended that you send your resume in PDF format as an attachment for ease of convenience to the recipient.
4. DO NOT send an email without a subject, or indication in the body of the email your reason for applying.
P.s.
sending an email without a subject and only your resume attached most often times will be ignored. It can be interpreted as “Lazy.”
5. Do send a Cover Letter
A cover letter is an informal way of introducing yourself to a Recruiter before an in person interview is set up.
It gives the hiring company an idea of who you are , and what skills or experiences may not be highlighted on your resume.
6. DO BE CREATIVE
Honesty is the child of expression. Your resume should be a clear reflection of your personality, experiences, skills and a foretelling of where you are futuristically headed!
7. Do use spelling and grammar checks
If you want to be taken seriously and considered a potential fit for a company, ensure that your writing (the first impression the hiring team has of you) is clean an error free.
