Meet Registered Nurse Andriel Newry-Prospere.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2014 from the then College of The Bahamas, now the University of The Bahamas, after earning a full scholarship directly out of high school in 2009.
Andriel is currently stationed at Princess Margaret Hospital, where she has served for the past decade as a Perianesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurse in the Recovery Room. In 2019, she completed Intensive Care Unit training, gaining advanced skills in the management of critically ill patients.
From 2019 to 2023, she also worked part-time as a Clinical Nurse with Anesthesia Associates, further expanding her experience in peri-anesthesia care.
Additionally, she has completed several specialized certifications:
• Natural Health Nurse Certification
• Master Cannabis Program
• Medical Cannabis Certification
In 2017, she founded Busher’s Tea & Herbs, a Bahamian natural wellness brand that specializes in bush teas, herbal remedies, and natural skin and hair care products. The business reflects her strong belief in the healing power of nature and combines her clinical nursing background with traditional Bahamian medicinal knowledge passed down through generations.
Through her travels across the islands of The Bahamas, she has studied indigenous plants and their healing uses, strengthening her mission to connect modern healthcare with holistic wellness practices.
Her goal is to continue advancing in peri-anesthesia nursing while expanding her herbal wellness brand globally. She also hopes to integrate evidence-based nursing with natural medicine, contributing to both clinical excellence and international wellness entrepreneurship.
Recently, Andriel released “Bahamian Bush Medicine: A Nurse-Guided Herbal Safety & Wellness Guide.” This digital guide explores commonly used Bahamian bush medicines, with a strong focus on safety, preparation, and responsible use, particularly for individuals managing chronic conditions or taking medications. This culturally rooted, nurse-guided resource is designed to educate and support wellness, not replace medical care. The guide can be found here: https://bushersherbs242.gumroad.com/l/lwybn.
Andriel is also an active member of the Pilot Club of Nassau, where she served as Assistant Secretary of the Executive Board from 2022 to 2023. She is passionate about health education, community service, mentoring youth, and promoting holistic healing practices.
Guided by her personal motto, “Falling is not so bad; the tragedy is not getting up,” she continues to rise above challenges and pursue excellence.
Nurse Newry-Prospere, your dedication to the profession and to the community has not gone unnoticed. Thank you for all that you do to make the world a little brighter! Congratulations on all your accomplishments.
