So yesterday I was BIG mad due to the announcement of the 4.5% increase in VAT in the Bahamas paired with the increase in customs duty exemption. I WAS HOT...not only as a consumer but more-so as an entrepreneur. I was mad all day. I ranted and I raved and I blocked and deleted a lot of people from social media due to my perceived ignorance of their comments and positions.
I’m STILL not unblocking them and I am still extremely concerned with the way decisions are made in my country along with accountability measures for a government that is repeating phrases like “kick the can” and “the only thing guaranteed in life is death”. 🙄
Notwithstanding everything that is going on in the market I was gently reminded that as a business owner, I should have been prepared for this happenstance. I’m not prefect; obviously I was not mentally prepared but I had to ask myself the question: “Have I structured my business in a way that adaptation to this governmental change will be smooth?”.
I implore all of you, my beloved followers, regardless of where you reside, to revisit your company’s SWOT analysis. If you haven’t completed one, do it. Unforeseen and uncontrollable things can happen on any day at any time...and our businesses need to be ready!
