Ke ?
My mother wanted me to be an Adventist Pastor, and though I remain a dedicated Adventist, life had other plans for me. I was involved in leadership from a tender age. Student leadership is a fundamental passage of life that really shapes you as a young leader. I was involved in many movements and protests โ especially the protests after the tragic loss of Segametsi Mogomotsi. That changed my life!
Politics became my calling, long before I even understood what leadership meant. Having attended all the meetings leading to the formation of the Botswana Congress Party, their value system deeply resonated with me - there was no other alternative!
I smile when people say Iโve been in politics for "long" - many don't know that I started very young. Yes sometimes people say I could have been very rich had I put my qualifications to "better" use - mme thomo ya Modimo ga e bereke jalo.
To comrade students: your voice is powerful, your role is essential. Stand up. Speak out. Lead boldly. Botswana is listening. We need a lot of youth in leadership - we need youth led development.
