TOP INVESTIGATOR WASETSO DIES AT 58

One of Botswana's top corruption investigators Gaofenngwe Eugene Wasetso has passed away. Wasetso, who was Head of Investigations at the DCEC before he was controversially pushed out and redeployed to a lowly ineffective role at the Ministry of Health and Wellness in 2018, led an illustrious corruption busting career from his Police service days to the DCEC. Wasetso oversaw the country’s major corruption investigations that include the multi-million p**a NPF improprieties, the CMB case that brought down a Permanent Secretary to the President, and the BHC scandal that led to the formation of the DCEC. In a tribute, DCEC spokesperson Lentswe Motshoganetsi describes Wasetso as "an unassuming, results-oriented individual, who showed an extreme focus on ex*****on of his duties".
