LIFE CHALLENGES EPISODE 1
Walking down the memory lane back to 1980, I was 10. Both my parents struggled to make ends meet to raise the four of us. Growing up was tough, my mom would wake me up at 4am to help her with preparations for the traditional brew that she sold to put food on the table, then retire to sleep to wait for the time to go to school. Obviously, I'd feel sleepy in class, other students mocked at me, but life had to go on. weekends and school vacations were days of collecting firewood and wild morogo that we'd use as relish.
As my mom struggled with putting ends meet at home, me and my brother would survive on nicely cooked malutu at school that I adored so much.
Being the eldest child taught me to be strong, independent and take care of my siblings at a tender age. I was a sickly child growing up, but an average student at school , and managed to go to Secondary level. School fees was paid then, that's where my mom used the proceeds from her sales to pay for us.
