𝗙𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱-𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀: Cannot be renewed beyond 12 months without a valid reason. Unjustified renewal converts the contract to permanent, with full backdated pay and benefits owed to the employee.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀: Dismissal on grounds of pregnancy or union activity is explicitly unlawful under the new Act.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Capped at 6 months. Dismissal without documented feedback and a fair chance to improve gives the employee grounds for an unfair dismissal claim.

𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Fixed-term workers are now explicitly entitled to the same pay and benefits as permanent staff. Any shortfall means backdated entitlements are owed to the employee.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀: Long-term contractors can be reclassified as permanent employees, with full entitlements owed from the point the relationship began.

𝗘𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: The new Mediation & Arbitration Commission handles all violations with stronger powers and faster resolution. Failure to engage results in an immediate default award.

THE ICONIC PHOTO THAT HUNG IN OUR HOMES.

For many South Africans, there was a familiar photograph hanging on the wall at home: a touching portrait of Ellen Kuzwayo holding a baby.

The image became one of the most recognizable photographs in black South African households during the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Yet many people who grew up seeing it never knew the name of the woman in the picture.

What made the photograph so powerful was its simplicity. It captured love, strength, motherhood, and hope during a difficult period in South Africa's history.

Ellen Kuzwayo was a respected teacher, author, community leader, and anti-apartheid activist who dedicated her life to serving others.

Many of us knew the picture long before we knew the name.

The artist or photographer remains unidentified despite its cultural impact.

He evaded the DEA, the Mexican military, and the CIA for 15 years.

Yet in the end, he died like a rock star.

He was the most dangerous drug lord in the Western Hemisphere, nicknamed “Mencho.”

The DEA hunted him for 15 years—no capture.
The Mexican military hunted him for 15 years—no capture.
The CIA hunted him for 15 years—still no capture.

The elite intelligence forces of three countries joined forces to hunt him, but found nothing.

He didn’t hide in bunkers, didn’t retreat to the jungle, didn’t conceal himself in tunnels.

In the last 24 hours of his life, he spent time with an OnlyFans girl.

No armed guards, no escape plan, no plans for succession.

Like an ordinary man, taking pictures with his girlfriend in a nightclub.

And the thing that ultimately exposed his whereabouts wasn’t satellites, informants, or undercover agents.

It was his girlfriend.

Mexican authorities tracked her, followed the clues, and found his hideout.

A man who had stumped the intelligence agencies of three countries for 15 years finally fell because of a relationship.

He escaped the world’s most advanced manhunts,
but couldn’t escape the oldest vulnerability of all

love. 🫠
