VACANCY | PIPE FITTER
We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Pipe Fitter to join our team on a contract basis.
Location: Jwaneng, Botswana
Employment Type: Contract Basis
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• National Craft Certificate (NCC) in Plumbing and Pipefitting
• Minimum 4 years' experience working with fire protection systems in a mining environment
• Previous 14.2 Legal Appointment will be an added advantage
• Valid Class B Driver's Licence
• Must be able to drive a manual vehicle
• Valid Reconditioning Certificate
• Basic First Aid Certificate
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Strong knowledge of troubleshooting existing fire protection systems and equipment
• Ability to identify faults and ensure compliance with applicable safety and regulatory standards
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong technical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work effectively in a mining environment
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Inspecting, installing and maintaining fire line systems
• Cutting, threading and fabricating pipe sections using specialised tools
• Inspecting and reconditioning fire extinguishers
• Inspecting and maintaining fire hose reels and hydrants
• Inspecting, testing and maintaining ICVs
• Troubleshooting existing fire protection systems and attending to identified defects
• Maintaining accurate daily work records and reporting deviations to supervisors and Fire Officers
• Participating in standby and responding to call-outs; approximately 2 weeks per month
• Ensuring all work is conducted in accordance with applicable safety, quality and regulatory requirements
