Congratulations on your admission to University or tertiary Institutions. As you begin your university journey, understand that this is more than just academicsโ€”it is a test of your discipline, values, and vision for the future. This opportunity is rare and powerful, especially for those coming from rural areas. Do not take it for granted.

โš ๏ธ The Dangers You Must Avoid:

โŒ Drugs and alcohol may seem exciting or like a way to fit in, but they are highly addictive and can lead to poor mental health, academic failure, and even expulsion.

โŒ Multiple concurrent relationships and intergenerational s*xual relationships often come with manipulation, emotional trauma, and financial exploitation.

โŒ These risky behaviors also increase your exposure to s*xually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS.

> HIV/AIDS is still a serious issue in Botswana.
One reckless night can change your life forever. Living with HIV means lifelong medication, stigma, and possibly limited opportunities for work, relationships, or starting a family. Protect your body and your future. Use protection or abstain. Know your status. Donโ€™t trade s*x for money, rent, or validation.

โŒ Gambling, including Forex trading, sports betting, and Betway, is not a sustainable way to make money. Most students lose everything trying to โ€œget rich quick.โ€

โŒ Too much partying, trying to keep up with โ€œcity life,โ€ or surrounding yourself with the wrong crowd will distract you from your purpose.

โŒ Neglecting your studies can lead to failure, and in Botswana, failure means discontinuation. The government will not sponsor you again.

> And then what? Youโ€™ll go back to your village empty-handed, dreams crushed, and your parentsโ€”who sacrificed so muchโ€”will be left in tears.

โœ… What You Should Do Instead:

Focus on your purpose โ€“ you are here to study, graduate, and secure your future.

Live within your means โ€“ donโ€™t chase city lifestyles you canโ€™t afford.

Surround yourself with positive people or attend Churchโ€“ avoid peer pressure.

Respect your body โ€“ protect yourself from STDs and unintended pregnancies.

Ask for help โ€“ when youโ€™re stressed, anxious, or confused, talk to student counsellors, lecturers, or someone you trust.

Stay grounded โ€“ remember your roots, your goals, and your family.

๐ŸŽ“ This is your one shot. Donโ€™t waste it.

You are not just a studentโ€”you are someoneโ€™s hope. Botswana needs you. Your village is watching. Your future is in your hands.
Stay focused. Stay safe. Stay strong.

Lastly if you have choosen a course you are not sure of especially those that are not marketable the soon you change it the better. The time is now before you waste 4 years and regret later as unemployment is very high amongst the youth at about 30%.

All those that have not been admitted due to low poijts you are adviced to write again via BOU or go to Brigades and technical colleges. For any further guidance you can inbox. Gokd luck.

About 50% of our problems in life is the result of trying to planning for our lives after we are dead.

This makes many people fail to realise when they have done enough for themselves. When retirement age was set at 65 , it was calculated in such a way that by that time you should have achieved all that you wished for in life and start to enjoy your life without tiring yourself.

By 65 the assumption is that all your children should be independent. They should be adults who can take care of themselves. You should not have a responsibility of a child at that age.

So all the things that you failed to do let them go and have peace. No need to start new projects that will stress you. Infact after retirement you should start selling some assets and remain with what is under your control.

Just a self contained spacious studio pad or bachelor pad with your spouse is enough. No need for 20 rooms that will require a house helpers (maids), gardener's and regular maintenance and repairs. In fact if you have a big house let it out and move to your small house. No need for 200 cattle. 20 cattle and small number of goats and chickens is enough to keep as a hobby. There is no need to have 5 luxurious vehicles. You only need 2 small cars like a Honda fit or Toyota Corolla for shopping and moving around town and a matshelonyana to check your hobbies at the cattle post and fields. There is no need to plough 20 hactors of land.. Just 1 hactor for your subsistence and to keep you active is enough.

No need to take care of your grandchildren. They have parents. If their parents are irresponsible there law is there to take care of that. If you have failed to raise your children to be responsible adults, you have failed just like any other things you tried to do. Retire and let them start and live their lives the way they see fit. Never try to correct your failure by raising their children you are going to fail again.

Don't worry what will happen to your children when you are dead. It doesn't help, what will happen will still happen whether you worry about it now or not. Sell everything that you don't use now. If your children are responsible enough they will buy from you. But if you see that they are not interested in buying from you just know that the day we come back from the grave yard to bury you they will be advertising your property to sell. Ensure that your estate is divided well through a will or Trust before you die. Make sure you leave behind nothing for your children to fight for. Just enjoy everything with them when they are kids and enjoy everything without borethering them when they are adults.

Eat your money on things that can help you stay fit for a longer time. Have most of your assets in cash so that you can withdraw any time you wish. Go to the gym, eat healthy food, travel a lot, spend more time with your spouse to cover for all the time you lost when you were workers and raising children. Attend all your family social activities and contribute nothing. Just Attend be happy and laugh with everyone. Your nephews and nieces will buy you your favourite drink, fuel your car and give you money if you were a good uncle to them. Just make sure that you agree with everything they suggest. You can't make them to think like you. They are preparing for their futures not yours.

In no time you will be 100 years and all the community will be paying you just because you exist.

Do even think about how your funeral will look like. What casket or cofin will be used, what will be eaten. You will be dead and whatever kind of burial happens to you, you are not there to be embarrassed or be ashamed. Those who will be embarrassed or ashamed will take care of your burial. Just take care of your parents burial and Retire from planing for burials.
