Dairy Farming

Known to be one of Botswana's challenging , expensive and most complex industry,it has come to realisation that these type of project has to be faced. With Botswana producing only 4 million liters per year of its milk we are currently importing 97% of milk and its products whilst Botswana's demand is at 65 million liters per year.
Dairy farming involves milk production from a certain breed of cows mainly Holeisten/Fresian which have the highest production capability. Their highest production may be reached if well maintained, this includes ; A suitable controlled temperature around 35 degrees as they are very sensitive, enough feeds for consumption, enough water made available for cows and also kept in an area where hygiene is of a high standard. Depending on the genetic make up of some dairy cows others are more reseliant to some dieases so you have to inspect the location of your farm so as to guard against preveailing diseases and prevent the preventable ones or quarantine before any outbrake.
These dairy cows are fed total mixed rations, either mixture of corn with grass or dairy meals, for the dairy cows to perfom at their highest, they need to consume up to 50kg of feeds and drink 120 liters of clean water per day which subsequently hikes maintainence costs of this business. It is ideal for a large scale farmer to plant some of his own feeds and sumplement by buying feeds from suppliers.
Dairy Farming requires a large chunk of land, For example; For 500 dairy cows you need atleast 1000ha of land, morden technology to run this business successfully and profitably. In adddition to that, with the right training, enough capital, equipment, experience and understanding a farmer can successfully produce an average of 35liters of miilk per cow per day which means with 500 cows one can produce 17 500 liters of milk per day and actually make it in the open market of Botswana.

BACKGROUND ON CALL FOR PROPOSAL
In light of the Novel Coronavirus of 2019 outbreak (COVID-19 pandemic) the world is not only working towards the development of a vaccine, nations are rapidly responding by seeking solutions to abate the socio-economic impacts resulting from this outbreak. COVID-19 has disrupted that which societies knew as the norm. This disruption has brought about opportunities for new innovations to be developed for use now and in future.
The Botswana Innovation Fund (BIF) is looking to fund the development of innovative solutions that address the COVID-19 pandemic challenges from eligible applicants. It is also envisaged that private sector entities will have an opportunity to invest or participate in the implementation of the chosen solutions. The call places emphasis on innovative digital solutions and working product prototypes that are ready to scale and to curb the some of the socio-economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Further to this we anticipate intellectual property development and registration, technology transfer, and commercialization of developed solutions.

TARGETED SOLUTIONS TYPES:
WINDOW 1: VIRTUAL HACK
This call provides emerging digital innovators an opportunity to rapidly produce solutions that can be adopted by the market. The solutions will be informed by current epidemiological and socio-economic challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic with special emphasis on the local economy. It is expected that the development of these solutions will involve individuals or collaborative teams with the requisite skills. The primary goal being the rapid prototyping of solutions with impact on society. The expected timelines to get the solutions to market are 2 (two) to four (4) weeks.
The solutions targeted are at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 3 to 8 (TRL 3 to TRL 8), proof of concept to commercial system.
The development of any solution needs to consider that it will be hosted locally in data servers and tested accordingly. As such it is expected that the proposed solutions;
• May include mobile and web-based solutions e.g. food value chain e-commerce solutions
• Will be data enabled with the ability to analyse and publish information.
• Will adhere to the necessary standards as approved by the relevant bodies including medical bodies, as appropriate.
• May be able to provide near real time updates on the pandemic and related socio-economic impacts.

WINDOW 2: WORKING PROTOTYPES/SOLUTIONS
There are a number of market ready solutions relevant to the COVID-19 pandemic which can be deployed but lack the necessary validation and tweaks to deliver them to market. In recognition of this, Window 2 seeks to provide innovators the support needed to capitalise on the opportunities presented by the COVID-19 challenges with the aim of getting their solutions to market during this time when the market recognises the usefulness of technological solutions. The expected time of solution to market is 2 (two) to four (4) weeks.
These solutions are at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 5 to 8 (TRL 5 to TRL 8), prototype system to commercial system.
These may include working prototypes of products, processes, value added services, community social interventions, tools and gadgets that may be of high demand during and post the COVID-19 pandemic. It is expected that the solutions will include, but are not limited to, those addressing challenges in:

HOW TO FUND MOTSHELO

Sometimes you don't have to necessarily pop out money every month as your contribution to your motshelo group. Here is one of the methods you can use to make money for motshelo.

Did you know for just P2500 you could get this Ice pop maker and be a ice pop supplier?

Do your homework

You'll need;
Packaging plastics
Ingredients to make the right mixture

If you made 10 packs of 50 a day and sold them for P30 each. You could make P300 a day.

P300 x 5 days = P1500 a week
P1500 x 4 week's = P6000 a month

Massive profits after subtracting costs.

Capitalize in summer, winter is a dry season.
Only takes determination
Think about it.

According to the government’s best assessment of the fastest and slowest growing of the future. On the decline are work, like typists, and occupations threatened by changing consumer behavior, like clothing store cashiers, as more people shop online. The fastest-growing jobs through 2026 belong to what one might call the Three Cs: care, computers, and clean energy.

A blockbuster report from government economists forecasts the workforce of 2026—a world of robot cashiers, well-paid math nerds, and so (so, so, so) many healthcare workers.

14/08/2019

THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF INTELLIGENCE.

Intelligent Quotient (IQ)
Emotional Quotient (EQ)
Social Quotient (SQ)

Now this thread shows what each of these mean and their impacts.

Do well to share so others can learn.

1. Intelligent Quotient (IQ): this is what helps one to "know book", solve maths; memorize things and recall subject matters.

2. Emotional Quotient (EQ): this is what makes someone to be able to maintain peace with others; keep to time; be responsible; be honest; respect boundaries; be humble, genuine and considerate.

3. Social Quotient (SQ): this is what makes people to be able to build network of friends and maintain it over a long period of time.

People that have higher EQ and SQ tend to go farther in life than those with high IQ but low EQ and SQ. Most schools capitalize in improving IQ level while EQ and SQ are played down.

A man of high IQ can end up being employed by a man of high EQ and SQ even though he has an average IQ.

Your EQ represents your character; your SQ represents your fame. Give in to habits that will improve these three Qs but more especially your EQ and SQ.

EQ and SQ make one manage better than the other.

Pls don't teach children only to be IQ but also to be EQ and SQ.

Now there is a 4th one:
A new paradigm

4. The Adversity Quotient (AQ): that makes people go through a rough patch in life and come out without losing their centres.

The AQ determines who will give up in face of troubles, who will abandon their family or who will consider su***de.

To parents.
This is holiday time. It is called long vacation.
Long vacation is of European origin, carefully inserted into the annual life of the community.

It is intended that at long vacation, children are exposed to other areas of life than academic life.

More importantly, children engage in vacation jobs. They are made to earn the money for the next academic tuition fees. Parents only assist them.

In doing these they develop both EQ, SQ and AQ. They become integral human beings able to do things independent of the parents.

At long vacation parents please do not send them to extramural lessons.

Take them to the village to cultivate corns, grand nut and see how foods are made.

Make them to learn to make cloths, shoes, ornaments. Send them to wood workshop, mechanic workshop etc.

Do not always take them to ShopRite and the likes. Also take them to visit the bereaved, the hospitalised and the orphanage.

Finally, do not prepare the way for the children. Prepare the children for the way.
