I would like to congradulate the minister of youth sports and culture for his position regarding suppliers who milk the government by charging exorbitant prices for goods, services or works. This thing has been going on for a long time and the most disturbing issue is why is it being picked at ministerial level? Do we have competent procurement practitioners in the system? If the answer is yes then they should know strategies to curb over pricing by unscrupulous suppliers. Because of economies of scale government should be getting almost everything it buys at 25% less the market prices. Being a government supplier is a great privilege not a right. Public procurement is for suppliers who want to bring quantifiable value in moving our country forward. This means supplying quality products at the right price, at the right time, in the right quantities delivered at the right place. That's it period.
