1. FOREWORD by founder
Over past years ,the results have been dropping with les
s than 30% pass last year, This could not be left alone, every responsible citizen would come up with something to try and boost academic institutions
Peer Driven Tutorials was formed as an institution to try and bring remedy to our ever sinking ship of academics. Our aim is to take advantage of Peer Driven tutoring which fosters active learning, reasoning, and critical thinking. This Services are led by Professionals who have dedicated their time to oversee the group, they are result oriented at the same time have great interpersonal skills, ensuring a good team work amongst our instructors, tutors, demonstrators and officers. Young people to contribute to economy of this country, and giving back to the community
OBJECTIVES
● To increase pass rate at all levels by end of year(12 months of establishment)
● To open part time opportunities to our unemployed youth in streets
●To offer quality tutorial services to all students from primary to form 5 students.
3. ABOUT US
One of the goals of the Peer Driven Tutorials is to offer quality tutorial services to all students from primary to form 5 students. Students are encouraged to take advantage of Peer Driven tutoring which fosters active learning, reasoning, and critical thinking. The application of active learning processes and study skills is introduced during a tutoring session in connection with a subject being tutored. Additionally, the tutors working at the Centre are well trained in applying learning strategies and tutoring techniques to help students become more confident and competent learners while facing academic challenges and mastering the course content. The Centre advertises the tutoring schedule at the beginning of the semester and invites students seeking academic assistance to come early as well as throughout the semester. Tutorial Services is aimed to make a difference, peer ignited academic success, one student at a time. We use professionally developed educational materials to ensure that students receive an opportunity to reach their true academic potential. All curricula are aligned with government National standards and benchmarks, as well as Common Core Standards. Tutorial Services offers online, onsite and blended learning packages. In order to equip children for a successful future, Tutorial Services ensures that every student is learning the appropriate age or grade level material. Students are given an assessment test to determine what their current education level is before assigning any course work. This process helps us deliver optimum learning solutions. OUR TUTORS
Our tutors are exceptional young boys and girls who provide assistance with homework, paper-writing, exam preparation, study skills, time management and note-taking. Tutoring sessions are arranged to accommodate your busy schedule. All tutors at Peer Driven Tutorial Services have been selected, evaluated and trained to conduct their sessions with encouragement, patience and creativity. Our tutors must have earned a "B" or better in the subjects they tutor, along with an instructor's recommendation. This is followed by an interview and a presentation of your liking. After hiring a regimented training program, tutorial observation with a seasoned tutor, training and information regarding working with students with disabilities and diverse cultural backgrounds, and periodic reviews by tutorial staff. The atmosphere of Tutorial Services is one that promotes independent learning and that tutoring is for everyone in order to maximize their learning potential. Meet some of our tutors
Supplemental Instructor
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support program that identifies difficult courses. It target only what student is not good at. We work together with parents and students to address and create a personalized learning opportunity for every student. It is our goal to listen closely to parents' concerns and understand fully each child's specific academic needs
1. SI leader
SI leader is a junior, senior or graduate student with the following qualifications:
• minimum University Degree
• B+ or better form5 results on specific module/subject
2. Responsibilities of SI Leader
• listen closely to parents' concerns and understand fully each child's specific academic needs,
• read assigned materials, take notes, and serve as a mentor dedicated to specific student
• conduct sessions for the students from the same course two or three times a week
• reinforce students' interactions and group discussions during SI sessions
• communicate with the student and parents on a regular basis
• attend scheduled meetings with supervisor on a regular basis
• monitor students' attendance
5. Our Program Offers: Individualized Instruction for all levels
● Traditional school setting often failed to address the needs of the individual student. Students who are performing at a higher level of academia are not being challenged enough, while students at the lower level of academia are often left behind.
