In the spirit of Heritage Day I decided to do a repost of this Ginger Drink (Kgemere) recipe, enjoy ๐
You will need:
1. 2 litres of water (tap water)
2. 2 heaped teaspoons of ginger
3. 2 cups of sugar (less if you donโt want it too sweet)
4. 1 heaped teaspoon of cream of tartar
5. 1 teaspoon of tartaric acid (start with half a teaspoon because this has the potential to ruin your drink ๐
)
6. 1 tablespoon of Pineapple or lemon essence
Method:
Mix all your ingredients in a jug and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Taste and add a bit more sugar or tartaric acid if needed.
Let it rest in the fridge for the ginger to settle to the bottom of the jug (This will take some hours, preferably overnight)
Disclaimer: I DO NOT boil the mixture because the ginger becomes too strong for me when boiled. This is my family recipe and weโve been making it this way for years. Give it a try and thank me later ๐
