On March 11, 2025, at the Hilton Barbados Resort, the Government of Belize's MPUELE, with the support of the LAIT UP BELIZE! project and the European Union hosted an official SEforALL Global Forum side event, bringing together key stakeholders, investors, and energy leaders to discuss Belize’s path to universal electrification.

We are pleased to announce that the Ministry of Public Utilities , Energy, Logistics & E-Governance (MPUELE), with technical support from the LAIT UP BELIZE! project (implemented by GFA Consulting Group GmbH ) and funding provided by the European Union in Belize , is hosting a critical side event at the upcoming SEforALL Global Forum:

Empowerment & Equity: Towards Universal Access to Electricity by 2030 for Belize

🌟 Congratulations to the Winners of the 2024 Energy Solution Student Competition! 🌟

As part of the 2024 CARICOM Energy Month activities, the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics & E-Governance (MPUELE) proudly hosted the Energy Solution Student Competition. Students showcased their innovative ideas to tackle the energy challenges in Belize, and their creativities were outstanding!

🎓 Tertiary Level Winners:
🥇 1st Place: Muffles Junior College - $4,000
🥈 2nd Place: University of Belize - $3,200

🎒 Secondary Level Winners:
🥇 1st Place: Nazarene High School - $3,000
🥈 2nd Place: Belize High School - $2,250
🥉 3rd Place: Belize High School - $1,500

The winners were selected on Friday, 29th November 2024, at the UB Jaguar Auditorium in Belmopan City. All 10 entries presented remarkable solutions to a panel of 4 judges.

💰 Cash prizes were proudly sponsored by the European Union via the LAIT UP BELIZE! Project funds.

🎉 Celebrating Success at the EELN Closing Event! 🎉

We are thrilled to share the triumphant conclusion of the Energy Efficiency Learning Network (EELN) program, which culminated in a joyous closing ceremony. A total of 51 certificates were proudly issued to the dedicated participants from our Northern and Central workshops. Additionally, 24 companies were recognized for their proactive efforts to enhance energy efficiency within their business practices.

This series, spanning from May to September 2024, included 5 impactful workshops hosted across two locations. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our participants, and a special acknowledgment to the European Union for their generous sponsorship which was instrumental in the success of this program.

Gratitude is also extended to the Institute for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ITVET) in Orange Walk and the University of Belize (UB) for hosting these enriching sessions.

We had an amazing time at the Energy Efficiency in Lighting workshop held on Thursday, 26th September 2024 at the University of Belize! 🎓 This event, attended by 50 eager students from the Mechanical & Electrical Engineering program, is part of our efforts to build capacity in energy management, as outlined in our MOU with UB.

2024 is all about Capacity Building for LAIT UP BELIZE! We're excited to empower the next generation of energy leaders. 💡⚡️
