So Ive been on a hunt for a helmet to use for my rides, and let me tell u it’s not easy to find one. I was sent to this little bike shop in Lena. I met the owner, a wonderful individual who used to be a rider professionally. As life would have it, he suffered a major trauma, an accident at work, and was left affected for life. His name is Carlo and he is a sincerely kind human being whose saved my sanity as so many of you have been harassing me about getting a helmet. He had none in stock as he explained to me that with Covid it’s been difficult keeping stock. He just like that gave me one he had in his shed. I was sincerely humbled by his kindness. Kindly visit Carlo if u ever need any bike repair. They also own a car wash, guess I know now where to take Herbie Joe for her clean up. Just paying it forward. Truly blessed by kindness today.

I've been wanting to write a review on this kind and Noble soul for sometime now. His artistry, skill, talent, but most importantly his patience with children and ability to help them find their inner artist is what inspired me to write about him.

Mr. Rony Jobel is originally from the north of Belize, but has definitely made San Ignacio his new home. He has worked as a government employee in the past, but truly has dedicated his life to his art and the gift of passing it on to the younger generation.

He is an artist and a teacher. Not only does he inspire children, but he has also held classes for groups of Adults, who not only paint, but get to drink wine and have a blast while learning techniques and sharing of each other's company.

My personal experience of him has been as Art Teacher for my youngest Marielena. All of you who know her can attest to the fact that her energy levels are way beyond mine, and that she needs to keep her hands busy all the time. Well he introduced her to modern art and finger painting. Within the summer I saw her blossom into a confident little artist. Proud of her work, and excited for what was to come next, she looked forward to waking up early every Saturday morning to go to her art class.

I have recommended him and will continue to do so because he exemplifies what a true teacher and artist really is. He is eager to impart of his knowledge and willing to do whatever it takes and in many occasions giving freely of his time for the benefit of children.

He also sells his art and can paint a picture or an entire mural. He has his own page Rony Jobel, and you can look him up and place your orders or view his gallery.

For me it has been a privilege and an honor to have met someone who has guided my child to release her inner artist. I truly hope that we can help him fill his Saturday classes commencing very soon, in January 2018.

Hi Friends, I woke up really early this morning to remind you that tonight is going to be a very special night at Pop's Restaurant. Night time Opening from 6pm to 10pm, Serving up the three options that I had mentioned in my previous post. Turkey Dinner, Meatloaf and mashed potatoes with steamed veg, or MY #1 choice, Lebanese Food. This includes Kibbeh, Hummu, and all the neccesary sides. I can't wait for tonight. Hoping all my Aunts and Cousins will be stopping by for their foodie fix.

I am so excited about Pop's opening on Friday night. The menu for the night will be super special.

Another goal of mine, has always been to showcase women entrepreneurs, and women who have been in business for many years. When I first had the idea to start on this journey, I solely intended to use this page as a tribute to successful women of the Cayo District.

As I had written on my page, I intend not only to give a personal review but I also will write up on the history of the business I am promoting.

Pop's Restaurant initially opened it's doors 14 years ago as an ice cream shop. Jorge David Awe, better known as Pop's, was 60 years of age when he started on this new journey after his retirement from working and living abroad.

He saw the need for a, " Nice little hang out spot for school children and families." Soon he realized that he could never make a profit as he was giving the ice cream away to those kids who wanted ice cream but did not have the $2.00 to pay for it. Ice cream was expensive and despite all his good intentions he soon realized he could not continue on with Pop's being an ice cream shop. Literally, his business was operating at a loss due to his kindness. This doesn't surprise me as honestly, even today he and his daughter Lisa have very kind hearts and feed many of the people who are homeless and needy downtown. This I have personally witnessed on many occasions.

Realizing this, he immediately had the idea to convert Pop's Place into Pop's Restaurant and begin offering breakfast all day from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, for the many locals and tourists who arrived daily.

This was an amazing move on his behalf and thanks to his persevering spirit, we now all can have our tasty, healthy and homemade breakfast daily, in a clean and air-conditioned, comfortable location.

Pop's also proudly announces that it will be opening it's doors nightly beginning this Thursday December 1st., 2017, each week from Thursday to Sunday, from 6pm. to 10 pm.

Later this week I will be posting the three meal packages that will be offered each night.

They now offer catering for special events off and on site.

But to top it all off, the best thing yet is that they are also Giving away a free breakfast for everyone on their birthday, with the proof of a proper I.D. of course.

Having been named as a winner by the BTB, for a five star breakfast location, Pop's Restaurant is rapidly gaining National and International Interest. Tourist and Belizean's visiting Cayo always have Pop's Restaurant as a must do on their list.

Undeniably the Restaurant to dine at tonight, with your family or alone is at Pop's. With tonight being their first night time opening, and their Thanksgiving event, this occasion will most definitely be an exceptional fine dining experience. I know I will be there, and I hope to see you there as well. It's open to all, and it's a great opportunity to make new friends whilst dining in a Belizean family owned and operated restaurant.

The three course meal includes soup and a roll, Turkey, Ham, Stuffing, Rice and beans or mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, either a garden or pasta salad and my personal favorite, pumpkin pie as a desert. All of this for only $25.00. Let's not forget the air conditioning which is always a plus.

So hopefully, I will see you all there, and if you ask why I know the food will be great, let's just say it's being cooked by my family. All Awe-some Awe's.
