Has this ever happened to you? Have you joined in on an industry/community because of the opportunity vs the experience you had in it?
I've recently become an owner of another business with a business partner. I do all the financials, the management and front of house interaction. My partner is the one who has been grinding it out in this particular industry for the last 13 years and is the reason we decided to jump on this amazing entrepreneurial opportunity together. We thought it was a perfect formula.
From a business aspect it sure was. We hit the ground running, we are at full capacity for month to month expenses and profit with room for growth.
However the downside is that the community that exists has basically shun us. We're not sure if it's because we are the new kids on the block or whether it's because 'I bought in'.
I think it's the latter of the two. And I am upset. My ego is hurt. What do we do?
We've decided to take a stance, and continue to become the best in our industry. We've decided this at the beginning, and I feel this is giving us more fuel to push onward.
When you think you have figured out the rules, there's always something you've missed. Some people scoff at the idea of 10x. It's the rule that whatever you think you're about to do, it's going to require at least 10x more effort that you can think of.. forget about it being a cliche saying. It's SO VERY TRUE.
We've just started our journey together, and we already have plans of expansion within our city and beyond. We're not going to stop til we are known across Canada for what we've accomplished.... and it'll take a lot more effort than we realize. But we will do it, for there are no other options that make any sense.
