Flat CCO sheets in. Large chute sections out.

For this Chute project, IMS was challenged to form sheets of Chromium Carbide Overlay into large pipe sections and fabricate a 45 degree corner for the system.

The job started with assembly drawings and a team review of the scope. From there, IMS created the fabrication drawings, received approval, and moved into the shop.

The team formed 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch CCO into half pipe sections, welded them together, and added supports for transport. The 45 degree bend was manually formed, welded, and blended to create a smooth transition through the chute.

Blank hammers in. Hardfaced hammers out.

For this Fort St. John project, IMS worked on grinding hammers for equipment typically used in horizontal grinder applications.

The hammers start as blank components. Our team added hardfacing to support the part in a high-wear wood waste processing environment.

It’s a simple before-and-after story, but an important one: the right wear work on the right component helps equipment keep doing its job in demanding conditions.

From bare steel to safety orange.

This IEM debarker roller project came through IMS for hardfacing and finishing before heading back out.

The roller surface is built to work inside debarking equipment, where logs, bark, fibre, and debris move through the machine in demanding wear conditions.

IMS completed the hardfacing work, applied the safety orange finish, and shipped direct to the customer on behalf of IEM for installation.

A practical wear solution for a hardworking piece of wood-processing equipment.

A client needed a spade-nose bucket lip designed for smoother loading of finished material.

IMS designed and built the custom lip, adding a CCO overlay across the top for extended wear life. Each spade-nose lip is engineered to customer-specific dimensions, ensuring every detail supports the application.

As IMS' President Caleb says, “It’s not just about the steel; it’s about understanding what they’re moving and how they move it.”

We take a collaborative co-design approach to our projects, ensuring every dimension and overlay serves a purpose.

“Cut to size” sounds simple. However, in heavy-wear fabrication, it rarely is.

A liner, plate, bracket, or custom wear component still has to start with the right material, the right layout, and the right cut before it moves to forming, welding, or final fit-up.

That’s where IMS’ in-house CNC plasma table comes in.

With an 11’ x 25’ bed and the ability to cut steel up to 2.5” thick, this table gives our team the capacity to process large plate in-house and move from drawing to cut parts with more control over timing, fit, and production flow.

Because in a custom wear solution, the finished part only works if every step before it does.

“No flat spots.” That was the requirement on this CCO duct project.

The customer needed 360° internal wear protection, built in sections, but still round when assembled.

So IMS formed 6+6 CCO plate into 180° pipe sections, tacked them together into a 7-foot diameter industrial duct, and kept the fit where it mattered.

Because in a heavy-wear application, the shape matters as much as the steel.

Over 75 feet of custom CCO ducting. Built for mining. Built to fit.

Meet Terry, IMS’s new Sales and Marketing Manager.

Terry joined IMS because he’s excited to be part of a team with limitless drive for success and a passion to create long lasting partnerships with our customers.

What stood out to him right away was the commitment to be the best by supplying the best parts and materials in a timely manner to minimize down time.

After spending time in the industry, he’s seen first hand that customers don’t just want parts. They want IMS to be their solutions experts whether it’s scheduled maintenance or interrupted production.

At IMS, Terry is focused on strengthening our sales team to quickly and effectively provide our customers new and old with shortened lead times by providing the right product for the right solution at the right time. He and his team look forward to working closely with customers in mining, forestry, recycling, and road maintenance to help equipment last longer and downtime stay lower.

Outside of work, Terry enjoys spending time with his family and dog Jack in the outdoors hunting and fishing as well as on the baseball diamond as a coach.
