Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, we pause to honour the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities. 🧡
At Above Board, our core mission is that all workers under our watch get to go home to their families at the end of the work day. But we know that true safety goes far beyond preventing physical workplace hazards—it encompasses psychological, emotional, and cultural safety.
As a women-led organization, we also hold space today to reflect on the specific and ongoing safety crises affecting Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S). We recognize that without acknowledging the truth of our history, we cannot build truly safe and inclusive communities for the future.
Reconciliation is an ongoing action. Today, our team is committing to listening, learning, and advocating for workplaces where Indigenous voices are respected and protected.
We encourage our community to wear orange today and take time to learn from Indigenous voices.
