Overcoming Life's Challenges
When we think of entrepreneurs, we often envision fearless leaders who have it all figured out. But what if I told you that behind every successful entrepreneur is a story that isn't all glitz and glamour?

Jade Alberts recently shared his raw and unfiltered journey on Lisa McGrath's podcast 'Devils Advocate: Trades Edition.' From battling personal demons to navigating family crises, Jade's story is a reminder that entrepreneurship is not just about business acumen but about resilience and vulnerability.

Jade's approach is against the grain in a world obsessed with quick fixes and overnight successes. He emphasizes the importance of listening and directing people to the right help instead of offering one-size-fits-all solutions. It's a refreshing take that challenges the conventional narrative of entrepreneurship.

Are we ready to embrace the messy and complex realities that come with being an entrepreneur?

Tune in to our latest episode to hear Jade Alberts' compelling story and insights.

Rain and Flood advisory in Alberta means one thing—we’re watching for the exact moment a condo’s “small leak” turns into a big repair.

As homework (before you wait for a notice):
Check downspouts and exterior drains for blockages.
Confirm roof and balcony waterproofing isn’t compromised.
Ask your Board where stormwater and foundation drainage discharge goes.
Review maintenance records for any recurring water intrusion spots.
Make sure your reserve study reflects current cost structures, not last decade’s pricing.

Save this for your next storm—your condo can’t wait for “after.”

How Hockey Shaped My Career
Jade Alberts dropped out of university, unsure of his next move. Yet, he found his path not through textbooks or lectures, but on the ice. His story is a testament to how unconventional routes can lead to fulfilling careers.

Ever consider that your passion outside work could be the key to your professional success? Jade’s love for hockey didn’t just fill his weekends; it opened doors to a career in sales. A chance interview, filled with hockey talk, led to a job offer and eventually to a career he loved.

At 19, with a mortgage in hand, Jade was headhunted, not because of his degree, but because of his network within the hockey community. It's a narrative that flips the traditional career advice on its head. Maybe the secret isn’t in the office, but in the passions you pursue outside it.

Is your career path as linear as you think it should be, or are you open to the unexpected opportunities your hobbies might present?

Listen to the full episode with Jade Alberts to explore the unexpected paths to career success.

The rain starts, the advisory drops, and suddenly everyone’s spreadsheet feels too optimistic.

As condo Boards, we’re urging homework right away:

1) Check your building envelope risks (roof edges, penetrations, flashing, balcony transitions, foundation seals).
2) Confirm stormwater and drainage paths are clear—so water goes where it should, not into assemblies.
3) Verify reserve plans match today’s real replacement/cost assumptions (not last decade’s numbers).
4) Document pre-event conditions so you can connect the dots after the rain.

If you wait until after the leak call, the fix usually costs more—and the cause is harder to prove.

At LPM, we are proud to support organizations that bring industry professionals, business leaders, and communities together to create meaningful impact.

The upcoming ACR Conference on June 13 is a testament to the remarkable growth and influence of the association. Having the Mayor of Calgary, Jeromy Farkas, in attendance, along with Global News coverage, highlights the importance of the work being done and the value ACR continues to bring to industry professionals across Alberta.

This level of recognition is not only a win for ACR but also for the many businesses, professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders who contribute to strengthening our industries and local economy.

We are honored to be part of an association that has experienced such rapid growth and continues to elevate conversations, create opportunities, and build connections throughout our business community.

Congratulations to the ACR leadership team, volunteers, sponsors, and members on this incredible milestone. We look forward to joining you on June 13 and celebrating the continued success of this outstanding organization.

Rain and Flood advisory? Your first “homework” is figuring out what water can’t handle—and where it will go.

Before the next downpour, we tell Boards to walk the building like a water path:

Check roof drains, scuppers, and gutters for clogs.
Look at grading near entrances and garage slabs—does water head toward foundations?
Confirm downspouts discharge away from the building.
Review known weak spots: window wells, balconies, exterior doors, and any past seepage areas.
Ask for the latest reserve fund study assumptions—are current water-management costs reflected, or are they old and undercounted?

Do this homework now, while it’s just a forecast—not after you’re staring at a wet ceiling.

Heavy rain doesn’t “just” cause leaks—it finds weak spots you can’t see yet.

We see it after storms: roofs that look fine from the driveway, windows with tiny gaps, doors that don’t fully seal, siding with old penetrations, and areas where water sneaks in before anyone notices. Then the real problem starts—moisture moving where it shouldn’t.

Here’s how boards keep condos “buttoned up” before the next downpour:

- Roof, windows, doors, and siding stay fully closed and free of penetrations
- Maintenance checks the building(s) after storms to confirm everything is still performing
- Durable building materials where repairs are needed (not quick fixes)

If you want, we can help your board tighten the plan around envelope integrity and proactive maintenance.

Heavy rain hitting your condo and you think it’s “fine”?
That’s how small leaks turn into costly building repairs fast.

We want Boards and maintenance teams doing a quick pre-storm sweep—starting at the top. Make sure the roof is secure, windows and doors are properly sealed, and siding has no gaps.

Then check for penetrations: anything that breaks the surface—flashings, vents, cable/pipe openings, any questionable patchwork. If you can see it, water can find it.

Finally, confirm durable repairs and maintenance touch-ups stay on the building, not just on the work order. Our team sees the biggest savings when problems are caught before the ceiling stains show up.

“Nice weather window” lasted 3 days. Then the wall cladding started to sweat.

Our team sees it all the time: reserve studies priced for “average” envelope costs, but the real world bills for water intrusion risks, freeze/thaw cycles, and heat-expansion details—plus the rework that comes from short timelines and exposed work.

And when storm timing flips a planned scope into an urgent one, Boards feel it first in the budget, then in schedule pressure.

What we help you do: align the scope and timeline to the climate, and validate the cost drivers before bids—so you’re not guessing when conditions change.

Your building envelope is “drying”—and still pulling cash.

We see it when Boards bet the schedule on good weather. The moment rain rolls in, every small delay compounds: openings stay wet, finishes get pushed, and the true cost shows up later as patchwork, rework, and bigger reserve questions.

Bad weather isn’t the problem.
It’s the plan that assumed the forecast would cooperate.

When we review enclosure scopes, we look at cost drivers tied to time on-site:
- exposure days (not calendar days)
- sequencing windows
- how weather impacts transitions between trades

If you’re staring at an envelope project timeline that “should” work, let’s stress-test it before it turns into a cash call. Visit Our Website: lpmenterprises.net
