Dryer, dryer, pants on fire!
Earlier this week, fire crews responded to a dryer fire. Thankfully, no one was injured and the damage was minimal, but this is a good reminder to make sure you’re keeping up with maintenance on your home dryer.

Home dryer fire safety tips:

- Keep laundry rooms clean
- Follow the warnings and care manuals that come with new dryers
- Inspect dryer venting to ensure it’s not damaged or restricted
- Check for nests of rodents or birds that may plug the outdoor dryer vent
- Clean the lint trap after every load
- Don’t run the dryer when you are leaving the home or when you go to bed
- Don’t dry items that have flammable spills such as oil or gasoline
- Don’t dry anything containing foam, rubber or plastic
