MAKING ROOM FOR CONVERSATIONS THAT MATTER

What happens when we don’t make room for difficult conversations?

When someone hurts us, disappoints us, disagrees with us, or simply sees something differently, it can feel easier to pull away.

Sometimes we go silent.
Sometimes we avoid the person.

And sometimes, in a culture that increasingly tells us to “cancel” people who offend us or disagree with us, we simply walk away from the relationship altogether.

But what if, in doing so, we sometimes create more pain than we realize?

When there is no safe place to talk about what happened, the other person is left in a vacuum.

They may never know what hurt you.
They may not realize how their words or actions affected you.
There may be misunderstandings that could have been clarified.
There may be something that could have been repaired—but the opportunity never comes.

And over time, the silence can create distance, resentment, and strain in relationships.

This is why difficult conversations matter.

Not because every relationship can or should be restored to what it once was.

And not because we need to convince the other person to agree with us.

But because God is a God of RECONCILIATION.

He cares about truth, relationship, humility, forgiveness, and making things right where we can.

Sometimes peacemaking requires COURAGE.

IT'S NOT ALWAYS THE ISSUE THAT AFFECTS THE OUTCOME

In Conflict Resolution we must remember that although the ISSUE is important, if we miss PROCESS steps, this alone can sabotage the outcome.

PROCESS is the How, When, Where and through What Method.
It's considering the TIMING, the PERSONALITY we are speaking with and the LOCATION we will meet.

Process includes who needs to be involved and how will we address the issues.
