Assalam-o-Alaikum everyone!
Honestly, I am completely done with unnecessary drama. My situation these days is very simple: if someone tells me, “An elephant is sitting on a tree,” I will simply say, “Okay, let him sit. Maybe he likes the view.” At this point, nothing surprises me anymore!
These days, some people are hired for marketing, but within five minutes, they start behaving like the organizer, sponsor, event director, owner and chief guest—all at the same time! They approach sponsors directly, build personal connections behind the organizer’s back, place their logos wherever they like and then try to make everyone believe that they are more important than the person who actually planned and managed the event.
The funniest part is hearing, “The sponsors are closer to the marketing person than to the organizer.” Excuse me—but is this an event or a relationship competition? Marketing is supposed to support the organizer and strengthen the event, not quietly take over the organizer’s contacts, position and recognition.
Then comes the backbiting, secret messaging, credit-taking and unnecessary competition. People smile together in pictures, praise each other publicly and then start a completely different discussion privately. Some create confusion, some carry stories from one person to another, and some start a fire and then stand at a distance asking, “What happened?”
But let me clarify: this is not about every marketing person, and it is certainly not about women only. There are many sincere and professional people who understand boundaries, respect roles and work honestly as a team. The problem is with anyone who forgets that marketing, organizing and sponsoring are three different responsibilities—not three titles to collect for one social-media post.
Organizers should also understand their own value. If you do not define roles, protect professional boundaries and communicate directly with your sponsors, someone else will happily sit in your chair—and may even place their logo on it!
As for me, I am protecting my peace. Everyone is intelligent enough to see what is happening. I will simply watch the show, enjoy my coffee and let the elephant sit com
