FORESTRY FACTS with Julie!

It's important to know where forest management is occurring by Sustainable Forest Licensee's. On our forest, more than half is private land and we do not operate there. 17% is occupied by Provincial Parks or Conservation reserves. Inaccessible areas and areas still regenerating only gives us 23% of the forest to be able to harvest at any given time.

Our annual harvest currently makes it that less than 1% of the available area is actually harvested each year.

All Sustainable Forest Licensee's are responsible to ensure their management unit activities are planned, monitored, renewed and reported. This information must all be publicly available since these activities are taking place on public Crown land.

Though a Sustainable Forest Licence is a piece of paper, it is a determining factor for showing that sustainable practices are being followed in Ontario. All management units have a Sustainable Forest License and they are all audited by a third-party to ensure they are meeting government regulations on our managed forests.
