We're branching out! Our Founder and Principal Consultant is pleased to share the news of her news business venture.

SOLD! The Wells Hotel is pleased to welcome new owner/operators Jillian Merrick and Kerry MacDonald. We are grateful for the hard work and dedication of the outgoing ownership team, and can't wait to share all the big news we have in store! There will be more announcements and updates coming soon, but in the meantime, we invite the community to stop by and say hello this evening before and after the Osisko Community Dinner.

Note: The pub is open but our food service is currently on hold. Please enjoy the community dinner tonight and the service at the Jack O Clubs Pub this weekend. Announcements coming soon on the new menu!

One of our longstanding community projects is the stewardship of What's Up in Wells - the online source for information on the amenities and events in and around our home base of Wells, BC.

After spending far too many hours combing through the depths of Facebook, searching through crowded email inboxes, and scouring local bulletin boards to try and find local event and business information, we decided to build a community events page to bring it all together.

We launched the website almost four years ago, and today we hit a new milestone: posting the 600th event on the site! 🥳

We owe our gratitude to the community for continuously putting on all kinds of great events for us to proudly showcase, through both the boom times and tough times of the last year years. Wells truly is a special place to call home.

Wells is a wonderful place, full of amazing people and amazing activities. You'd be surprised at just how many great events are happening all the time in our little community.

A big thank you to the Wells-Barkerville Community Forest, who partnered with us to sponsor the Wellsians in the Woods programming this summer and fall. Our goal was to provide training on the safe and sustainable use of local forest resources, especially for those who may face barriers to training because of age, gender, finances, or rural access.

With the support of the Community Forest, 20 people successfully participated in 31 fi****ms and hunting training seats, and all successfully passed the exams required to apply for their Possession and Acquisition Licenses and BC Hunting Licenses. Over 50% of our training participants were women and youth. Thank you to North Central Fi****ms Training for traveling to Wells to instruct the courses.

We know many Wellsians will be using their new knowledge to help fill their family freezers with ethically harvested meat and keep their community safe from the misuse of fi****ms this season. We love our local forests and wildlife, and are proud to support and participate in their safe and sustainable harvest!
