If it's a potential pandemic, this is a good idea. If it's not, it's still an opportunity to spend some time with people we are close to and a way of showing respect for those who are concerned about a possible pandemic. Outside of a few bucks & a few worries I don't see a whole lot for us to lose taking some time off.

My son's girlfriend was waiting in the shop and in a matter of 10 minutes whipped up these 'doodles'. She said "It's something I do to pass the time if I get bored". 10 minutes! Bored! This is finer work than I've seen some professionals do!!

Here is a little before & after with a typical rock chip. There will usually be a little blemish on the surface of the glass, but the majority of the "void" has disappeared where the outer layer of glass came unglued from the inner one thanks to the stone's love tap.

Facebook's been pestering me to share something to let you all know the page is still active. Well this morning something happened that I think is worth sharing (hope you've got coffee and reading time)

There was a customer who special ordered a piece of tempered glass for his boat. It arrived later than I'd promised, he lived out of town, it was a debacle trying to connect and have it picked up. I then moved on to the conclusion "ugh.. obviously another special order someone's lost interest in or bailed out on for no reason" (as if this happens all the time or something.. 😏) at which point I send a text saying he can a) pick it up at a reduced cost or b) I'll trash it and move on, but requesting a response so I know what to do.

Well, pictures are worth a thousand words after all. He apologized and responded that his boat caught the business end of a large poplar tree and now came with a custom fold down the center. He came in to pick it up and we had a (very nice, Canadian -if you get my drift 😉) argument whether he should waste additional $$ on a window. He did end up taking it after all, and the half of cost price tag still felt like I was handing him a rip off. Now he just needs a new boat to go with it (or one that's been repaired).

SO, the moral of the story is that this just goes to show assume does still stand for making an ASS out of U and ME.

**steps off soap box and walks down the red carpet to receive his 'du***ss of the day' award**

PS- Thanks, Matt.

With winter on it's way, I wanted to mention a few things. According to most predictions I've heard and what we've experienced so far it's going to be a cold, soggy winter. No matter what style of windows you have in your home, they will be the coldest place on the wall. Just like a cool jug of water gathers water v***r on a warm summer day, humidity in the home can have a tendency to collect on the glass. There are some things that can be done to minimize this.

First, ensure that there is an exhaust fan in washrooms. There's no better way to saturate your home with humidity than a large tub filled with hot, steaming water or a hot shower.

Second, a dehumidifier is a great idea. I humbly give my wife an honorable mention for insisting on this. Now that we have one in our basement, it's an entirely different place - it takes a couple liters of water out of the air every day!

Third, if you are cooking in the kitchen, take steps to reduce the amount of water being boiled into the air. The best way of doing this is to simmer food in pots with the lid on. Not only does it contain the majority of water v***r, it also keeps the heat in and you can boil vegetables etc. with the burner at a much lower heat setting thereby saving some electricity too (it's not going to fill your bank account but hey, every little bit helps, right?)

I hope this helps you have a more comfortable winter..!
