Our municipality is still experiencing seriously dry conditions, and water is in short supply in many areas. We know this can be challenging and stressful, and we want to help where we can.
Starting tomorrow, we will be offering more access to showers and the washer at our arena when the dressing rooms are not in use. Accessibility will vary, and we will post on our website at https://barringtonmunicipality.com/Municipal-Services/arena when they are available.
Any additional support we can provide will depend on schedules, staffing, and water availability. It’s important that we preserve all of our own water sources to continue providing essential services, and we are becoming increasingly concerned about water levels, especially on Sherose Island where the arena and curling rink rely heavily on this source for their operation. We unfortunately have no way of knowing how much water is still available there and under similar circumstances in the past, the well has run dry, resulting in damage to the pump.
Although managing water supply is ultimately a household responsibility, we understand that some families and residents may not have the means or resources to handle it on their own. So, for those who need extra help, reach out. As well, we’d like to remind residents that we have a water supply lending program that provides financing to assist households in upgrading their water supply.
