AGD proudly presents a $45,000 donation to the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, Inc. 💙

On September 29, we gathered at The Wilds Golf Course for the 24th annual Herbert J. Powell Memorial Golf Tournament, and it was a great day of golf for an even greater cause.

For 24 years, this tournament has brought together AGD staff, customers and vendor partners in support of a cause that is near and dear to our hearts, especially to our CEO, Mr. Dave Powell, and the Powell family. Held in loving memory of our founder, Mr. Herbert Powell, the tournament has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador over the years.

This year, through generous donations, our silent auction and ticket sales on a local craft b**r prize basket valued at over $500, we were incredibly proud to raise $45,000.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who golfed, donated, purchased tickets, contributed to our silent auction or helped make the day possible. Year after year, the support shown for this tournament and the cause behind it means so much to us. 🥹💙

We’re incredibly proud of what we were able to accomplish together in our 24th year, and even more grateful for everyone who continues to help us honour the memory of Mr. Herbert Powell while supporting the important work of the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador. We look forward to doing it all again next year as we celebrate the 25th year of this special tournament!

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡

We honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families and their communities, and reflect on the lasting impacts of the residential school system.

As part of recognizing this important day, the Powell Group of Companies will observe a moment of silence at 2:15 p.m. to honour and remember those affected by the residential school system.

Today is an opportunity to listen, learn, reflect and remember that Every Child Matters, today and every day. 🧡

This hands-on role includes facility inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, preventative maintenance, and coordinating specialized services when needed.

While previous facilities maintenance experience is an asset, we also encourage skilled tradespeople from a variety of backgrounds to apply. If you have strong technical skills, are comfortable working with tools, and are willing to learn, we’d love to hear from you!

A lot of fun was had this past weekend at the Powell Group of Companies Softball Tournament 2026! 🥎

In true Newfoundland fashion, the weather gave us sun, rain, drizzle and fog, but that certainly didn’t stop the fun!

Events like this give us a chance to have some fun outside of work and get to know colleagues from across the Group of Companies a little better.

A huge thank you to everyone who played, helped out, cheered from the sidelines and spent the day with us. It was a great day made even better by everyone who took part!

We’d also like to extend a big thank you to the Town of Bay Roberts for allowing us to use the field and for their help in making this event possible.

We’re already looking forward to next year! 🥎🙌

Celebrating National Trucking Week!🚛

This week, we’re recognizing the drivers and transportation team who keep AGD moving every day.

Our drivers spend countless hours and kilometres on the roads and highways throughout Newfoundland & Labrador, often navigating challenging weather, road conditions, traffic delays, changing schedules and unexpected circumstances. They adjust routes, make decisions on the road and work through these challenges to ensure deliveries get where they need to go safely and efficiently.

Alongside our drivers are our Driver Helpers, an important part of every successful delivery. From loading and unloading product to assisting at delivery stops and helping navigate the day’s route, their hard work and teamwork help keep each delivery moving.

There’s a lot that happens between our warehouse and our customers’ doors, and we’re grateful for the people who make it happen.

We also want to recognize our Transportation Managers/Supervisors, Ken, Robert and AJ, who work behind the scenes supporting our drivers and helpers, coordinating trucks and deliveries, troubleshooting the unexpected and helping keep our transportation operations running smoothly.

To all of our AGD Drivers and Driver Helpers, thank you for the early mornings, long days, challenges you navigate and the commitment you bring to keep AGD safely moving. 🚛👏

This draw is open to AGD customers and staff and features over $500 in prizes, proudly featuring local products generously donated by D***o Brewery, The Newfoundland Distillery, YellowBelly Brewery, Marshall’s Cornerstop, and Atlantic Grocery Distributors!

Entries are available with a $5 donation each or 5 entries with a $20 donation, and again, every single dollar raised will be donated to the Alzheimer Society of NL, along with the proceeds from the golf tournament fundraiser as well.

If you’ve ever worked with Atlantic Grocery Distributors, chances are you’ve had the pleasure of dealing with our very own Leigh. 💙

Leigh is one of those people who quietly keeps so many things moving behind the scenes. Whether she’s helping customers, supporting our team, or making sure the details are taken care of, she brings the same level of care, dedication, and heart to everything she does. She truly is someone our organization can always count on.

Around the Powell Group of Companies, though, Leigh has earned another title… 🌭 “The Hot Dog Lady!” For years, she’s been the one keeping everyone fed at our staff BBQs and community events, making sure every hot dog is cooked, every burger is served, and helping ensure every event runs smoothly with a smile.

So when our friends at Maple Leaf dropped off this Hot Dog Manager t-shirt, there wasn’t a single debate about who it belonged to. It had Leigh’s name written all over it. ❤️
