In celebration of Canadian Italian Heritage month, we would like to thank the Zanesco family for supplying us with the Prosecco grapes that we utilize in making our beautiful sparkling wines. The Zanesco Family had grown the Prosecco grapes in the Colline of Asolo in the province of Treviso dating back to the 1800s. After WW2, Federico and Francesco Zanesco immigrated to Ontario in the pursuit of more economic stability. However, they deeply missed their love for the wines of the Veneto region of Italy. While on a trip to their ancestral home, they decided to bring back grape varieties that they enjoyed so much to grow and make into wine, including the Prosecco grapes. These vines have survived and flourished in their family vineyard since the 1970s in Stoney Creek and we believe are the only Prosecco grapes being grown in North America. We are thankful for the opportunity to work with Zanesco family and their grapes
