NEW ‘TATTOO’ VQA WINE BOTTLES HIT LCBO SHELVES JUST IN TIME TO CELEBRATE THE FESTIVE HOLIDAY SEASON
BEAMSVILLE, ON - Once again, Legends Estates Winery has endeavored to draw inspiration for a new “tattoo” wine label concept from the talent of the local Niagara community. Going local, in this case, led to renowned tattoo artist Bob Paulin, owner of Studio 123 Tattoo in St. The decision to approac
h Paulin to design a label stemmed from the desire to bring more attention to quality VQA wines through the use of innovative, modern packaging, as well as the need to challenge and reinvent assumptions of locally grown Ontario wine. Legends Estates President Paul Lizak describes inspiration for the product as “…always trying to create a unique wine package that offers something new. Our bottle is made to catch the attention of newcomers and advocates alike, and the quality of the enjoyable wine inside will keep consumers coming back for more.”
Mr. Paulin’s artwork has been showcased and praised globally, including a feature on the ABC News 9-11 Tribute documentary and appearances on television programs such as Live with Regis & Kelly. His unique designs for both Truth and Dare VQA wines mirror the fresh nuances crafted by Legends Estates winemaker Serge Papineau. Truth is sheathed in a bright green bottle sleeve and bears the image of an angel. Like wine in the glass, the basis of Truth is found in its fluidity, forever changing and always open to interpretation. Winemaker Papineau has stayed true to the essence of each grape used to craft this fruitful, white wine blend, with fresh grape flavours unencumbered by the use of oak in a pleasant off-dry style. The lightness of Truth is accentuated by the bold flavours of Dare. This Dare is about indulging your darker side, as the devil across the front label suggests. The deep red package perfectly projects the characteristics of this red hot blend, which are rich with red berry flavours and layers of spice. Truth and Dare are the latest additions to a trilogy of “tattoo” wines produced by Legends Estates Winery. The first wine to be released in the series is also Legends’ premier vintage of sparkling wine. Legends Estates Sparkling Rosé, also known as “Love Potion” conjures a feast for the senses, from its striking pink hue, tiny effervescent bubbles, and aromas of fresh summer berries and slight residual sweetness. This sparkler was recently awarded a BRONZE at the 2010 Intervin International Wine Awards. The unique, sleeve packaging design of all three wines brings a fresh, updated look to wine shelves, and simultaneously becomes a collector’s item for fans of wine, art and tattoos alike.
